South African Navy Service

Correct me if I'm wrong. Two Leander-class frigates served with the S.A. Navy along with the Westland Wasp helicopter. POV

I put a POV tag on the article, mainly for the intro: "was arguably the most successful and popular class of frigates in the Royal Navy's modern history." Citation please for such a confident assertion? And "It had an unusually high public profile, due to the popular and acclaimed Warship BBC television drama series." -- both the "unusally high profile" and "acclaimed" assertions being uncited. That isn't so much a POV issue as a {{fact}} issue. I really see the NPOV tag as being for a problem with the substance of an article or section being geared toward some particular viewpoint, rather than an issue with the rhetorical flourishes requiring citations. It's not as though there's an alternative viewpoint, that the Leanders were lowly and obscure ships, getting short shrift. I'm changing the tags. DCB4W (talk) 01:20, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Batches and structure of article

There were really 10 batch 1 ships with Y100 engine and 6 batch 2 ships with Y136 engine. However two of the batch 1 ships (Penelope and Cleopatra) had the so-called batch 2 conversion.

The article needs the structure changing, so that it talks first about the ships as originally built, and then about the various conversions. And quoting sources in citations. I will try to do some of these much needed modifications.--Toddy1 (talk) 05:29, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Citations required in the introduction

The introduction says:

"The Leander class, or Type 12I frigates, comprising twenty-six vessels, was among the most numerous and long-lived classes of frigate in the Royal Navy's modern history. The class was built in three batches between 1959 and 1973. It had an unusually high public profile, due to the popular and acclaimed Warship BBC television drama series."

• Where is the citation for them being among the most numerous and long-lived classes of frigate""? It needs a citation to back up this statement - i.e. how do them compare with other classes of modern RN frigates?
• Where is the citation for It had an unusually high public profile? The cause of this supposedly unusual public profile was a TV series. The TV series cannot be the citation for them having an unusual public profile. Did the Leanders have a higher public profile than the Ark Royal, the Brilliant, or Type 23s? All of whom were at one time the stars of TV series.

Admiralty Type numbering confusion

40mm Bofors on HMNZS Canterbury.

I suspect that drawing comment is wrong. Canterbury was one of the last Leanders to comission, and I can't recall any photos of her without seacat. The RNZN had received the Rothesays with single 40mm but had converted them to seacat mid 1960's well before the arrival of Canterbury.
