"The RSL had in turn split from the International Socialists in 1971."

The embryo of the RSL was a faction in the IS called the Revolutionary Tendency. It was expelled, not unwillingly, in 1973. Confirmation of the 1973 date can be found in other articles cited in Wikipedia.
