Work in Progress

edit

I am a member of a church that has a lay ministry. However, we do not use the expression lay ecclesial ministry and after reading this article, this expression seems to refer to something (somewhat similar but) completely different from what my church means by "lay ministry". I noticed that originally the page for Lay ministry was #REDIRECTed to Lay Ecclesial Ministry (should have been Lay ecclesial ministry, another error I am in the process of fixing) when the two expressions are not always synonymous. Although the present article doesn't technically present a list of other articles that this expression refers to, please understand that this is a work in progress. I ask you to please not revert this page to its former redirection page without due consideration. Thank you. --Champaign (talk) 07:51, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • I've rejigged it to look like an article not a dab page - but I'm not sure about your main statement! Surely there can be lay ministry within churches which have paid clergy, too? In fact I'm so sure about this that I'll alter your text for now. But it's all unreferenced anyway, so I'll leave you to develop it further. PamD (talk) 09:56, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm not an expert, but you need to clarify whether your "lay ministry" includes ordained ministers not currently in (full-time) paid positions in the church (retired ones too), and/or non-ordained people. It will all vary from church to church. Look out for overlaps with Laity, which is currently the target of the redirect at Lay minister. PamD (talk) 10:02, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
