James R. Ward, please help solve this issue of conflict of interest. I am NOT the Laurier McDonald in the article, I tried changing my user name but this did not seem to solve the problem. Should I just remove the article and try again?Unsigned contribution User:Guirisystems 06:38, 4 May 2009

Hi. (You didn't sign your post, and Sinebot hasn't come 'round to do it, so I'll just assume that you're the individual who created the article.) The best place to start might be to read Wikipedia's conflict of interest and neutral point of view policies. I hadn't thought or claimed that you were the subject, but sharing a given name and surname may make you related – hence creating COI and POV issues. While Wikipedia policy does not ban COI editing, it harshly discourages it; you'll see that on the policy page.
I opened a deletion debate after someone (you?) declined the ProD and deleted the {{coi}} tag I'd added to the article without resolving the underlying issues. I suspect what will happen is that, upon closure of the debate in several days, any material relevant to the Rio Rico case will be added to that article, and the Laurier McDonald article will be deleted. You're certainly welcome to argue (on the deletion debate page) that the subject has the requisite notability, which if successful will cause the article to be kept.
I'm sorry to sound pedantic, but creating a second account in order to edit more anonymously is considered sockpuppeting and isn't allowed on any Wikimedia Foundation site. Regards, Jim Ward (talk·stalk) 07:18, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
