I've begun a discussion regarding the atrocious state of character articles within the Emmerdale universe. These articles stand to be deleted unless corrective action is taken. Melanie Potts

According to this page, Laurel has another sister called Melanie. So far, Caroline has been, the only sister to have appeared onscreen. Can the OP confirm whether Melanie even exists or has been mentioned onscreen or is it a mistake by a fan, adding information?92.232.245.253 (talk) 19:29, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Alcoholism

The part about her alcoholism is a bit mixed up chronologically. I think the order of events are more like this:

1. Stopped for drunk driving.
2. Fired from factory for being drunk at work.
3. Unemployed she is drinking spiked orange juice at home while Marlon i working.
4. Starting doing make-up parties for Bernice. Not sure if April's orange juice incident is before or after this.
5. Lying about a make-up party to go to Kerry's party, falling down the stairs.
6. Doug accuses her of having a alcohol problem and thrown out.
7. Going on holiday with Marlon.
8. Choking on vomit soon after returning from holiday.
9. Hitting Marlon.
10. Running over Daisy.

Laurel and Gabby

Do years really need to be put next to Gabby as stepdaughter? Looking back, Gabby was raised by Laurel since she was young, even after Laurel and Ashley divorced and still does. Also, it's been said Laurel sees Gabby as a "real" daughter. I doubt any of that will change, even after Ashley's killed off, and for the fact Laurel is the mother of Gabby's siblings. I am requesting that this page, Laurel Potts, is moved to Laurel Thomas as I feel that Thomas is now WP:COMMONNAME following her long-standing relationship with Ashley Thomas and the recent dementia storyline. However, before requesting a move, I have posted here to seek opinions of others. If anybody noticing this could respond with an answer, I would be appreciative. I looked at this earlier after seeing an editor ignore WP:NOTBROKEN for the hundredth time. She was known as Potts for about three years prior to her marriage to Ashley, and has been credited as Thomas for much longer. I think most of her major storylines have occurred while she was Thomas, and the official ITV website uses that surname for her character profile [6]. Google gives 76,800 results for "Laurel Potts Emmerdale", while "Laurel Thomas Emmerdale" gets 165,000 results, and "Laurel Dingle Emmerdale" 44,900 results (just throwing that in there).
