Traralgon bias? edit
I was born in Traralgon and I like the town more than Morwell, but I think this article is biased towards Traralgon. For a start, there has never been a 'main town' for the Latrobe city council. Certainly the main offices have been based there, but they are now based in Morwell, and I dont think Traralgon has ever had a truly leading administrative role in the valley. Physical boundaries of the valley edit
As a (Yarragon-born) geographer, I was surprised to see Drouin and Warragul mentioned as being part of the Latrobe Valley. Blue ribbon Warragul has for some decades tried to distance itself from the more urban bolshy working class of the valley and has not considered itself a part of the Latrobe valley. Both towns sit on a lobe of hills that extend north from Ellinbank joining the foothills of the Baw Baws in the Neerim District. The western end of the valley proper starts just east of Darnum, and is obvious when driving as the highway hits the Yarragon and Trafalgar flats. The little Moe River crossing there also marks the edge of the Latrobe basin. (I believe there is even a sign at Yarragon marking the start of the Latrobe valley.) Otherwise, the overt physical borders of the Baw Baw foothills and the Strzeleckis give shape to the valley as it extends east towards Morwell.
