Isn't this exactly the same thing as Latent Semantic Analysis? How is it different beyond the fact that one person (cited in the references) decided to make up this name? The author works at Apple and is probably responsible for the Mac OSX API that's called "latent semantic mapping."
I just saw a talk by him about "Latent semantic mapping" and still didn't understand how it's different.
