  •   4846 characters created January 10, 2022. I was able to check several references - some are foreign language and some are books. Regarding the hook: I prefer ATL1 however - both hooks do not really interest me. If we can come up with a more interesting hook it could be better- but I will not hold up the nomination for it. • Bruxton, do you mean you were unable to check several references? Google translate can help with digitised foreign text. Do you have any ideas about how to make the hooks more interesting, would mentioning 'Sodom' or the 'Decline of the West' help? TSventon (talk) 15:08, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • @TSventon: I did google translate - one of the books had frustratingly small text. Regarding a hook, it took me a while determine why Oswald Spengler is of any interest. I thought of including something about his views. But perhaps it is better as it is. The hook causes me to learn more than one thing so I say leave it. • @Bruxton:, thanks for the clarification. On small text, I recently saw a suggestion that pressing control and + can help. TSventon (talk) 15:44, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

DYK hooks edit

@Bruxton and Theleekycauldron:, sorry I did not get the ping. I suggest that the hook would be more interesting if it mentioned the self portrait as well. I have also done a hook for bthe Sodom story. Hope this is not too late.

    • ALT3: ... that the painting Late Visitors to Pompeii is thought to have inspired Ferdinand Bordewijk's story Sodom; Morality of This Century? Moraliteit van deze eeuw’" [it seems to me more than likely that Bordewijk had Willink's 'Late Visitors to Pompeii' from 1931 in mind when he conceived of writing a modern conte moral: 'Sodom. Morality of this century',]) TSventon (talk) 09:04, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@TSventon, Bruxton, and Theleekycauldron: this is still in prep 5, so currently can be edited by anyone, if you want to change it. If you decide on a change after it's in the queue, feel free to ping me so I can adjust. I've removed the report from WP:ERRORS as it's not an immediate issue, and there's time for everyone to discuss it here first. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 10:47, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Amakuru: apologies, I saw that the next DYK update was at 12.00 on 22 January and panicked. I would recommend ALT2 as the Bordewijk article does not mention the Sodom story, only De wingerdrank, the collection it appeared in. TSventon (talk) 11:04, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK, we'd just need someone to approve that though. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 12:30, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Amakuru: I'll approve ALT2; the hook's now in Q5, so could you swap it in? thanks :) cheers theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/she) 09:03, 23 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Theleekycauldron: OK, done. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 09:57, 23 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
