Text copied wholesale from other sources? edit

The edit by 92.0.192.56 on 2 April 2010 appears to have been a large addition of text about the breed, with near-identity to the text on these two sites (both listed under the page References but this text isn't sourced to them):

http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/swine/largewhite/

http://www.britishpigs.org.uk/breed_lw.htm

No idea whose text it was originally, but the potential wholesale copying without sourcing is a serious problem. Lakmiseiru (talk) 00:34, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

In the end I just opted to wipe the offending text and removed the History section altogether as it is now empty. Lakmiseiru (talk) 00:53, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for noticing and for handling that, Lakmiseiru, good catch! Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:09, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Is there another breed of pig called "Yorkshire", or is it just an alternate name for the Large White? edit

It says this breed derives from another breed, known as the Yorkshire. But, then, Yorkshire has the around it, so when you search for the Yorkshire breed you get this breed. Also, it says Yorkshire is an alternate name for this breed. Shickorbob (talk) 20:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

More data wanted edit

The article should include some things about history (when created, where created, how did it become popular) as well as average or maximum weight and so forth. Right now the article is quite sparse, in my opinion. 2A02:8388:1641:4980:52EB:F6FF:FE28:C651 (talk) 11:20, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
