In statistics, "Laplace smoothing" means add-one smoothing. See additive smoothing. I wonder whether it is in any way related to "Laplacian smoothing" discussed in this article. Took (talk) 04:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I edited the disambiguation line to make this clearer. It seems that Laplacian smoothing gets its name from the Laplacian transform (and hence only indirectly from Laplace), while Laplace smoothing is named after Laplace himself. -AlanUS (talk) 18:42, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
