In civil aviation

Shouldn't there be a paragraph on the LPE (Language Proficiency Endorsement) that can and mostly should be added to pilot's licenses? And no, I feel underqualified to begin one. Jan olieslagers (talk) 20:24, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Proficiency tests

Based on which criteria were the named "Proficiency tests" selected? Amount of native speaker population? Random addition? ... I think in all fairness there should be a certain "selective bias" exerted here, i.e. one might even "rank" the mentioned tests after one or the other criteria, as mentioned above. I say all this because, firstly Wikipedia is about relevance and secondly I truly believe that whatever Wikipedia serves to readers might - in some cases - lead them (learners) to pick up a certain language or not.. --Philipp Grunwald (talk) 15:53, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

"Acquired"?

All languages, except for conlangs, are "acquired". This may have been assumed to indicate a L2 language learner, but proficiency should also be able to refer to a native speaker as well. Kortoso (talk) 17:17, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Defining Language Proficiency

I am evaluating this article for a Wikipedia project in a class, and I wanted to address the organization of the article. The section on Issues in Defining Language Proficiency seems very limited to language endangerment and revitalization, but I think there is a lot more to be said about defining language proficiency in more general terms--How is it measured? Can it be measured? What should be taken into account? It's possible the info about endangered languages is relevant, but I feel that it's out of place or too specific without having included more general information first.
