No idea where the claim that the hospital closed in 1991 comes from - might that be when the mental health departments moved out?.
The hospital itself closed in 2000; as a Lancaster resident who took a friend to physiotherapy there, I can confirm that personally, but for documentary evidence, simply read the sources already mentioned in the article. The Sunday Times piece, for example, specifies that in 2014 it had stood empty for 13 years (i.e. it was fully vacant by 2001). Ministry (talk) 20:28, 6 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
