Von Koenig and Jewell are both definitely notable alumni.

Von Koenig received Lakeshore's first Distinguished Alumni award, so the school clearly feels she should qualify. She led the Lakeshore marching band to two state championships, their first ever, in 2002 and 2003. That is at least equivalent to Randy Helling's achievement. Jewell is listed among the distinguished alumni of the University of Michigan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_University_of_Michigan_alumni#Rhodes_Scholars), so certainly should also qualify for his high school. He is Lakeshore's first Rhodes Scholar alumnus.

Please justify in the discussion page before deleting these names again.

Local notability is not the same as wikipedia notability. And the fact that a name appears in another wiki entry shows only that someone added that name at some point, not that the name belongs there; anyone can edit entries, wikipedia is not sourced to itself. Most Rhodes scholars are locally notable at most. Hairhorn (talk) 15:48, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Von Koenig has competed at the highest level--national band championships, and won the high school's very first Distinguished Alumnus award. As for Jewell, is being a published author enough? (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?EAN=9780761119883) I fail to understand how someone would meet the notability requirement vis-a-vis a major university (see the University of Michigan alumni page) and not their high school. The notability standard for lists of notable people in both school articles and community articles is covered by WP:NLIST, which say that to be considered notable enough to be on said lists, the subject must be notable enough to have a Wikipedia Biography (see WP:BLP) written on them. Being a published author or the director of a band that once won a national completion is not in and of itself enough notability for that. The other things you mentioned are local in nature and not even a consideration when determining notability. As the previous editor told you, notability is of a world, not local level. These are the same standards that apply to all high school articles in the United States. The man that was a Rhodes Scholar was on U of M's list of Rhodes Scholars. If this high school had numerous Rhodes Scholars, you could plausibly create a list of them and put him on it. But since he is the only one, that isn't going to happen. I have removed the non notable people from this article, along with several other things that are counter to the school article guidelines (WP:WPSCH/AG). Another School edit

There is another school opening next school year (Aug 2009) in Mandeville, La called Lakeshore High School. I am not sure how to do this, but could someone please make redirects for each of the schools to specify the location or something? I would like to begin work on the new school's page, but i have to go around this roadblock first. Thanks, 74.180.79.68 (talk) 04:02, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
