Stone arrangement damaged! edit

Saw this on the internet, search WP and here I am!

<ref name="abc-eel-shape-damaged-apr'21">{{cite news |last1=Johnson |first1=Sian |last2=Bewley |first2=Caitlin |title=Fears 'highly significant' Aboriginal site near Victoria's Lake Bolac has been partially destroyed |url=https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-05/lake-bolac-aboriginal-eel-shaped-rock-arrangement-destruction/100049446 |access-date=5 April 2021 |work=www.abc.net.au |publisher=Australian Broadcasting Corporation |date=5 April 2021 |language=en-AU}}</ref>

Laterthanyouthink, I thought the recent bad news about this stone arrangement may attract unwelcome attention. See edit, their first, here by Aldabertchen (talk · contribs).
I'd AGF except, linking white to rasist, Massola to insanity & Lake Bolac, Victoria 3 times in one sentence, for example etc, etc. I've reverted.

Yes, 220 of Borg, I would have reverted that too! That editor needs watching, I think. I removed your heading because the article looked a bit unbalanced with just the one small section - what did you think of the rearrangement? Perhaps section it when a bit more is added and a proper WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY style can be adopted? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:55, 6 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Laterthanyouthink, meh, no wucken furries! ;-| Follow WP:MOS. I tend to just add stuff in separately like that, not so much 'integrating' it into the page with a re-write. As its 'news' readers can find it easily? I didn't notice at the top where the arrangement had been damaged previously. :-/
I've also been doing a lot of 'list type' updating edits to Timeline of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia, and COVID-19 cancelled/ re-scheduled / delayed/ moved/ 'virtualled' event pages. (Take a look at the number of unsourced and plain silly edits I've reverted on those type of pages!!! 50-100+? [1]) so it may be becoming a habit.
I notified the Archaeology Wikiproject and at the Australian Noticeboard about this damage event, just in case of this sort of silly 'editing'. I also created the Kuyang stone arrangement redirect
That editor above I reverted gave me a barnstar. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 220 of ßorg 06:19, 6 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Follow up edit

Another article about the damage,[1]

Massola ... who? edit

Laterthanyouthink, any idea who the "Massola" mentioned on this page is? There is a cite that says "Massola 1968", no other details.
Possibly there was a bibliography or sources section the been deleted? Maybe a cut&paste from an external source? 220 of ßorg 12:15, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

No, 220 of Borg, I did notice that in passing but didn't follow up... But I just found Aldo Massola, which lists a 1968 work. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 12:54, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Certainly sounds like it's highly likely that is the right person.220 of ßorg 13:41, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Coordinate error edit

{{geodata-check}}

The following coordinate fixes are needed for

the position of the aboriginal stone arrangement. From Google Maps sat view, I believe that it is rather -37.71097429033245, 142.84958642330858 where at last one eel seems to be visible. Sorry I am not geek enough to translate it into proper coordinates.

Pytheas54 (talk) 17:50, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Pytheas54: Frankly, I think that while the coordinates in the article are almost certainly incorrect, those that you've suggested are also not precisely correct. The storage structures visible in the background of the two photos accompanying this article suggest that the stone arrangement – before its partial destruction – was in the paddock at 37°42′23″S 142°51′02″E / 37.7064°S 142.8506°E / -37.7064; 142.8506 (where the Google Map shows those structures just to the west). In the absence of a clear source for the exact location, however, I've removed the coordinates from the article altogether. Deor (talk) 20:19, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The proper location is here: 37.706834,142.851478 You can see the stones in Google street view on the north side if the highway.Garyvines (talk) 09:49, 10 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
