First person review edit

After the most recent rewrite, Miss Lady Kier was contacted to review the accuracy of the page. She responded via email, correcting several mistakes and clarifing a few dates.

as for the wikipedia info - I see a few errors here. which I'll try to clarify. thankyou for your interest in updating this wikipedia page- I cringe when I've read it before and have avoided it ever since because there's so many errors . I never went out with or knew Michael Hutchence. dmitry and kier lived in williamsburg , Brooklyn from 1984- 1989. she was never married to or divorced from dmitry . they were lovers for four years before they started the band deee-lite in 1986 . Dmitry lives in berlin . I lost the lawsuit with sega/sony. the second album was not actually a commercial dissapointment.- it recouped and went gold - however the record label refused to promote the album with any tour support or fund the 2 contractual videos. the third album also recouped quickly and sold a million copies in spite of the label refusing tour support or the funding of 2 contractual videos. the band broke up in '93 during the writing of "dewdrops in the garden " but Kier and Dmitry decided to tour together to promote the last album before going seperate ways. Although Lady kier is a college drop-out, I was published in the spoken word poetry collection "verbal abuse," spoke at Princeton University, Cooper union art Institute. I have written and produced 7 Billboard number one dance hits.

I'm not sure how wikipedia works or what you contributed but I hope this helps - thankyou Lady Kier

From here on, please be careful before adding or editing any information, as inaccuracies abound on the internet and are difficult to confirm.--Coryarlo 05:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for this. =) User:-Anthony--Anthony- 07:48, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Where did she drop out of college from? Presumably it was in DC (since the bio says she was in DC between high school and NYC). An art school, I'm guessing, but I have no idea. Aroundthewayboy (talk) 00:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I found an online interview that said she dropped out of FIT because she became disillusioned...Aroundthewayboy (talk) 00:29, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inaccuracies edit

I have removed the reference to Michael Hutchence, this is a completely unsubstantiated rumour with absolutely no basis in fact, let alone any kind of reference. 69.22.239.120 02:28, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistancy edit

The article has two different years for Deee-Lites break-up (95 and 96). Whatever it is, it should be consistent within the article. ike9898 03:30, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions for Improvement edit

this article could do with a pic of the lovely miss k. if one with a suitable license can be found. --Kaini 22:47, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Birthdate edit

I do not find that 1963 birthdate to be accurate since Kierin Michele Kirby graduated from Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA in May, 1981. I'd imagine Lady Miss Kier was born in 1969 like most of her other graduates- myself included. (this entry moved from main article; posted by anonymous user 68.71.249.171)

Since when do people born in 1969 graduate high school in 1981? 1963 is more like it. See this link and punch in "Kier Kirby:" www.birthdatabase.com. The birth month listed there may well be wrong, but the year is usually accurate. Swinterich 05:08, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't buy this age propaganda either! No way is she just 1 yr. older than me! The birthdatabase another user suggested cannot be correct either as that is for someone named Kier NOT Kieren and they are listed as being born in NY NOT OH! At any rate, while I love her and wish her well and believe she can be any age she wants to in her world, on this, planet Earth, she is telling little fibs! My guess is she's pushing 50. (CM)

Not 50! If so she looks very good for 50..!

There has been a lot of back-and-forth between 1963 and 1969, and Miss Kier had been decidely mum on the point. I've decided 1963 makes the most sense, given that she graduated high school before moving to NYC and moving in with Dmitri in 1983. Having her born in 1969 would make put her at 13 during that time, and make him a statatory rapist (they had an unconventional relationship, given, but come on). I think 1963 only makes sense. Feel free to provide any counter evidence.--Coryarlo 21:51, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bald? edit

I vaguely recall that she's bald. Is this true? --Dweller 10:43, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

How dare you. Coryarlo 03:20, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is that a serious response? --Dweller 21:54, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

As tongue-in-cheek as I assumed the question was. I don't think there's any way she's bald, or her hair would be a hell of a lot better. It's again one of those things it's impossible to disprove unless there's some actual proof, so if you can find some evidence for that, throw it up on here and we'll discuss it. BTW, I heard Dmitri is an hemaphrodite. Is this true? Coryarlo 22:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know very little about the band. I vaguely recall reading about them in Q magazine years ago, when I think they described her as a "bald chick in a bad wig", or something like that. I'll see if I can find out anything. --Dweller 11:22, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Towa Tei edit

Does anyone but Wikipedia's Korean internet-nationalists even refer to Tei as "Chung Dong-hwa"? At the time he was part of Deee-lite he went by "DJ Towa Tei", if I'm not mistaken. I'm changing the name to the one he's used at the time and is also most widely known under. TomorrowTime (talk) 20:26, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jewish? edit

Is she Jewish? The last name Kirby is often Jewish, and that part of Ohio is very Jewish, but I don't know for sure. I used to think she was Puerto Rican, but I don't know too many Puerto Rican Kirbys. Aroundthewayboy (talk) 00:02, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Personally, I've met many people by the name Kirby and none of them are Jewish. Then again, I'm in the UK, not the States. So I looked at our list at Kirby (surname) and opened four entries that were identified as American and none of them were obviously Jewish, either, although Bruno Kirby's surname is a stage name. --Dweller (talk) 14:11, 26 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

It is possible that she is of jewish descent

actually her parents are of english and eastern european descent. Kirby is a british surname — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.247.242.84 (talk) 16:38, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Tone edit

The tone of the content on LMK's career, particularly post-Deee-lite but excluding the personal life / court case section, is not encyclopaedic but very much written in a celebratory (self-promoting?) style. And the volume seems inappropriately large for the information's significance: the revision of the page before 27 Sept 2013 looks much more neutral and appropriate to me. Much of the new "fan-type" material was added by user Deee-lite123, whose name as well as their contributions suggests that they are an enthusiast rather than someone aiming for a neutral tone. Tagged article as having tone issues, but a reduction in volume to the pre-27/Sep/2013 level would also seem appropriate to me. Just a note: I have no interest for or against Deee-lite or LMK -- I just browsed to this article and found it less helpful than it should have been because of the style issues and biased presentation. --AndyBuckley (talk) 19:09, 8 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

The article still suffers from a fan-page tone. There are way too many mentions of non-notable write ups in magazines and similar. Ashmoo (talk) 07:03, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

"Her music" edit

Regarding the line "Her music has been used in" which lists various TV shows and films....Should that be Deee-Lite's music? Of which she was a part of creating, obviously, but is more accurately stated as being THEIR music, not hers. 2603:8001:2A00:7428:610B:DAA8:ACC8:B029 (talk) 23:52, 3 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

This section is still a problem. It is not clear if this text refers to Dee-Lite music or something she composed later. It is not clear whether it is just licensed music, or composed specifically for the TV and films in question. Further most of the pieces are not sourced. I believe we should just remove the text until someone can provide a source. Ashmoo (talk) 07:00, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
