marriage

edit

The current date for the marriage is given as 21st Oct 1987. However two independent references state she married on the 31st Oct 1987: 1) http://www.thepeerage.com/p10425.htm#i104247 - states 31st Oct 1987 2) http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=WOhVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=euEDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5955,9932&dq=ellingworth&hl=en

The newspaper gives the wedding as the Saturday before that day's news i.e. Saturday before 1 Nov 1987. The 21st Oct 1987 date current given is a Wednesday, however 31st Oct 1987 which matches the Peerage date is a Saturday. It was newsworthy as Princess Diana did not attend the wedding with Prince Charles. I therefore feel justified in updating the page. 198.182.37.200 (talk) 12:44, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Notability?

edit

The entire notability of this person seems to be based on who her relatives were, and the identity of someone she might have married, but didn't. I have nothing against her and am fully prepared to accept that she's a delightful individual but has she ever done anything of any significance in her own right? Lead or article or both has improper weight not reflecting what is notable

edit

The lead focuses solely on her career. The article is mostly about her personal life and family. If she is notable mainly for almost marrying Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, then that should be mentioned in the lead. If she is notable mainly for her professional accomplishments, then the article should have more about her career and less about her personal life and family. 47.139.41.53 (talk) 20:40, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Relationship to Prince Philip is incorrect

edit

The article says " therefore she is the granddaughter of Admiral of the Fleet the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, an uncle of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and a second cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth II. "

She is definitely not an uncle to Prince Philip, and is likely not his aunt either since she's younger than him.

The article should be fixed to reflect whatever the correct relationship is.

I made a small change to that sentence to make it clear that Mountbatten was the uncle of Philip. --Wire723 (talk) 10:05, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Of course she is not Philip's aunt, but an aunt can be younger than her nephew, if a boy's grandparents were young enough to have a daughter after he was born. 2600:4040:5D30:4800:F165:1C63:B12F:63C (talk) 23:18, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

King Charles III

edit

She is second cousin to the King through the Mountbattens. and fourth cousin through the Windsors. 2600:4040:5D30:4800:F165:1C63:B12F:63C (talk) 23:12, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
