There is a comment in the article text, "According to the LNWR Society, 110 were built between 1894 and 1900". I can explain this. The LNWR Soc page states "After the comparative trials, the 3-cylinder compound was chosen as the standard heavy goods engine and 110 were built between 1894 and 1900". The qualifying phrase here is "After the comparative trials", these having been between no. 2524, a 2-cyl simple built 1892, and no. 50, a 3-cyl compound built 1893.
