Fair use rationale for Image:LNB.gif
editImage:LNB.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Predecessors to the LNB
editI recently created a page for an American basketball player who was on the 1973 and 1974 AS Berck teams that won the French National Championship. Somebody created an internal link for "French National Championship" that linked back to this page. Unfortunately, AS Berck's titles came when the top French league was known as "Nationale 1." The French version of the "National Champions of France" page makes the distinction between the leagues, but the English version does not. Project for a pro (someone other than me!)? --JGardESQ (talk) 18:53, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the proposal was rename per nomination.
While the official name may well be "LNB" it is desirable to use a proper name rather than an abbreviation for naming articles. The bulk of usage on the organization's official web site refers to "Ligue Nationale de Basket" and I see no evidence offered that "Ligue Nationale de Basketball" is more common. ~Amatulić (talk) 19:44, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Ligue Nationale de Basketball → Ligue Nationale de Basket — The official name of the league (see official website).--Relisted Cúchullain t/c 19:32, 23 July 2012 (UTC) relisted --Mike Cline (talk) 13:19, 9 July 2012 (UTC) 13:30, 30 June 2012 (UTC).
- Both forms seem to be used on the website, here. --Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 03:58, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- If you look at their "statutes and regulations" it states that the league is named "LNB". - Basket is the common metropolitan french nickname for Basketball. So in my opinion neither Ligue Nationale de Basketball, nor Ligue Nationale de Basket is the official name. I am not French, I am French, and would not know what they call it over on that side of the pond. --Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 04:09, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Actually the document is headed "Statuts de la Ligue Nationale de Basket", which implies that is the official name. Since it is generally preferable to use a proper name over an abbreviation, unless the abbreviation is overwhelmingly the common name, I would say support. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:05, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- I would have to disagree, as in the first Article, it states that the league is named LNB, and that is the official name. The name of the document is not of legal value.--ZooFamily (talk) 15:15, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
