Clarification of my edit

Hi. User:DanielRigal undid my edit and found it to not match its description (See: User talk:OcEdit). My edit clarifies the fact mentioned in the version I originally edited: what I added further explains that individuals, who don't consider themselves to be part of the community, might not support the community's culture or existence. 'Gay' is a term that emerged in the LGBT community and is part of its culture, therefore using the term 'homosexual' for the individuals concerned only makes sense. The description I gave — 'Mentioned a wider range of people' — does describe what this change did. A wider and relevant range of people was mentioned. I apologise for any technical mistakes. --OcEdit (talk) 19:49, 15 August 2021 (UTC)

Suggestion: Intersections of Disability

Between "Intersections of race" and "Criticism of the term," a section should be added about "Intersections of Disability." I am currently working on a section on the Deaf Culture Wikipedia page to expand the Deaf LGBTQ institutions section, but I recognize that there is a large gap on Wikipedia discussing the intersection of the LGBTQ and the Deaf community. This section could include subheaders of the Deaf community which includes discussions of history of Deaf people leading efforts in the gay liberation movement, development of resources and organizations for Deaf queer people, and Deaf drag. Other communities discussed could in the blind and physically disabled as well. As an introduction, the section could lead with the acknowledgement that both groups face pressure to/are often forced to become "normal" and are often born into families that are different from themselves. Years of adoption of initialisms

I don't recall LGBT being adopted until the '90s. I subscribed to Factsheet Five, which is given as the source, for what I assume is a mention or quote from the book cited. The cite in the article isn't helpful for how to find that content. But the publication is at the internet archive, here: Acronyms, Initialisms & Abbreviations Dictionary, Volume 1, Part 1. Gale Research Co.. and has no mention of LGBT ... Oh, wait. The cite in the article says 1985. The archived version looks to be an edition from 1976. So... I partially reverted and am looking for a more recent edition. I still don't consider '89 an accurate year, or sufficient to say LGBT was in common use in "the late '80s". - CorbieVreccan 21:55, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
