'machine guns and hand grenades'?

The citation for this statement appears to be broken, from what I can make of an automated translation of the page it links to. Additionally I was unable to find any other sources to verify this statement in a quick google search other that what appears to be the same information as here copied and pasted around. Now I don't know all that much about Japanese gangsters, but it seems somewhat unlikely they're running amok with machine guns; it's very rare for even organised criminals to be armed with machine guns, as much because they'd be very impractical (much heavier and bulkier than assault rifles) as any other reasons (such as them being very much chiefly military weapons and generally not sold to the public even in jurisdictions where firearms are legal). More likely somebody lacking in any knowledge of firearms making an (all too common) error and it getting copied around.

Aaaanyway, as I can't be sure on the subject I'm leaving the page be for now. Perhaps somebody from Japan, or at least that can read Japanese, can see if they can dig up any sources on this? -Joey- (talk) 16:26, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

I am no one in particular and came across this via link, but I will go out of my way to inform you that the Kudo-kai and the Yamagumi-guchi have battled it out before and most likely will again. In my opinion the Kudo-kai is the the "true" face of the "real" criminal underworld in Nippon. During the 3/11 earthquake, tsunami, and nucular disaster, there were alot of yakuza who actualey provided relief efforts! Some provided help in the form of free labor, food, cloaths, and I think in a few instance's, shelter. The Kudo-kai is not one of them. Unlike the older organized crime syndicates such as the most infamous/famous Yamagumi-guchi, the Kudo-kai have been the one "if not the most" ruthless and violent family in western Nippon. I have not talked to one but I believe that the members do not hold most ideal's and socialy polite custom's as most other Nippon-jin's. To support my my statment I will post one recent link reguarding the Kudo-kai (http://www.newsonjapan.com/html/newsdesk/article/99024.php) as to hint why I hold my opinion as very much truthful and a few others to prove that the yakuza is of course not only active, but can be dangerous. Not all yakuza hold the same belief's and ideal's as other's. I will not be able to prove this opinion in this post, but will go ahead and say that some family's stay away from drugs, while other's openly exploit it for profit. Some "honorable" family's will use the tactic controled conflict, not as a means to an advantage, so much as to keep kitagi "civilians" out of harm's way.
