Hello sir I am from her birthplace and I know that she is from a Tulu speaking family. I have a video of she telling that her mother tongue is Tulu but I don't know how to post Blensonc (talk) 16:11, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blensonc, you can post the video link here (provided that its not a copyright violation) -- Ab207 (talk) 18:46, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Prithvi Tuluve and TuluveRai123: This source says that she is born in a Kannada family in Mumbai (she meant Karnataka may be?). Can you provide any reliable source that says Shetty is born in Tulu family? -- Ab207 (talk) 14:46, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Krithi Shetty's mother tongue

edit

She herself has said in a interview that her mother tongue is Tulu TuluveRai123 (talk) 15:14, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

TuluveRai123 Can you provide the link? -- Ab207 (talk) 16:21, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
There is an Instagram link above which is purely OR and posted by an account with trolling in the username. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:25, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. We could link the show using cite AV media but she did not explicitly say that her mother tongue is Tulu. -- Ab207 (talk)
How to word it, as she speaks Tulu? I think it's No. 1 Yaari talk show. But which AV link to cite? -- DaxServer (talk) 16:47, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think it also comes under WP:BLPSELFPUB -- DaxServer (talk) 16:53, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
The issue is we need a neutral, reliable source to tell us what is actually being said. Unless anyone with some credibility can identify the languages and what is actually being said. I'm hesitant to trust the users who've been posting this, and I'd need to know the actual context of what was being said. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:58, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
The talk show "No. 1 Yaari", or Yaari No. 1, is in Telugu. But I don't know Tulu, so I can't verify it. I can translate the Telugu part. Host Rana Daggubati asks her to translate the Telugu film titles in, and only in, her mother tongue. First one is Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. She translates. Second Bavagaru Bagunnara? She translates. Rana comments that he doesn't know if her translation for the second one is correct or wrong. The third person comments that it's correct. [gossip ...] -- DaxServer (talk) 17:27, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) We could cite the show using Cite AV media, URL is optional. But the issue is she did not explicitly say that. I tried searching for other sources but nothing showed up. -- Ab207 (talk) 17:07, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

In that show she clearly stated that her mother tongue is tulu, why do we need other source despite having a accurate source TuluveRai123 (talk) 18:22, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@ScottishFinnishRadish and DaxServer: How about removing ethnicity/language until we can find additional sourcing? I mean, there is no obligation to mention that. -- Ab207 (talk) 14:52, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ab207, I'm fine with that. I was pondering making that change myself, although I imagine we'll still have people adding the language back in. Willing to give it a shot though. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:57, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
ScottishFinnishRadish, yeah. Let's see if that works. -- Ab207 (talk) 15:12, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yupp, fine with me too 👍 -- DaxServer (talk) 15:51, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Would a comment at the end of the sentence explaining and pointing to talk page useful? If Tulu is added back, one possibility that @ScottishFinnishRadish and I discussed on my talk page is to get the page protection to extended-confirmed. What are your thoughts @Ab207? -- DaxServer (talk) 16:01, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
DaxServer, yeah. If this arrangement doesn't work, then we can go for ECP. -- Ab207 (talk) 16:17, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ab207, I agree with waiting a bit, although I think we should add the category for Kanneda actresses back in based on the current sourcing. Born in a Kannada family who moved from Bangalore to Mumbai and settled down. [1] We can leave the language part out, but it seems well sourced enough for the cat. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:37, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
ScottishFinnishRadish, did that to keep prose and category consistent. I have no issues if the ethnic cat is kept based on current sourcing. -- Ab207 (talk) 16:45, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I restored the cat, we'll see how that plays out. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:52, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Krithi Shetty is from bunt community and people from bunt community always hail from tulu family, why do you guys dont accept this!! What's your problem if someone edit her mother tongue as Tulu. Stop sharing Fake information on Wikipedia TuluveRai123 (talk) 19:26, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

TuluveRai123, you need to provide reliable sources, as explained before. We have reliable sourcing for the current content. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:38, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

What else source should I provide. I have said that all in the above text TuluveRai123 (talk) 19:41, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

https://www.filmifeed.com/celebrity/krithi-shetty/amp/ have a look at this website TuluveRai123 (talk) 19:41, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Only you 3 are opposing this so that everyone will get false information TuluveRai123 (talk) 19:42, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

That source is not reliable. It is user generated content and the site itself says We don’t warranty the accuracy or suitability of the information found on our platform for any particular purpose. A simple and reliable source is she is a shetty which is a sub caste of Bunt community and people from bunt community hail from Tulu speaking family. TuluveRai123 (talk) 20:13, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

That's not a source, that's you saying something. You need to provide actual reliable sources. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:18, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

https://www.instagram.com/p/COpasQlpHHH/?utm_medium=copy_link what other source do you need other than this,it is also a verified account. She herself has said that her mother tongue is Tulu. TuluveRai123 (talk) 04:49, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

TuluveRai123, we need a source where Shetty says "my mother tongue is Tulu" so that other editors can verify, that's not the case here. Also, last names are not enough for such claims (see User:Sitush/Common#Castelists), Helen Reddy was not a Reddy. -- Ab207 (talk) 06:48, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Looks like we now have a self-published source with self-identification of her mother tongue! — DaxServer (t · c) 19:18, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Bangalore or Mangalore or Udipi?

edit

Where is she/her family hailing from?

  • Bangalore - Feb' 2021 interview: Andhra Jyothi: [2] and Sakshi: [3] (are these two sources the same?)
  • Mangalore - The Times of India (caution: WP:TOI): [4] [5]
  • Udupi (vicinity-only) - Jan' 2022 interview/program in Alitho Saradaga - [6] at 7:10. Translated from Telugu: Ali: Where are you from? Krithi Shetty: Basically, we are from Mangalore, that is Mangalore is not our proper, beside Mangalore, beside Udupi. But I'm born and brought up in Mumbai.

@DaxServer: The talk show is obviously the most definitive of all. The print sources could have easily mistaken Mangalore for Bangolore. Same confusion exists for KL Rahul but there was a video source where he confirmed it as Banagalore but that link is dead now. -- Ab207 (talk) 19:50, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
"are these two sources the same?" *confused TDP and YCP noises* Probably they are, looking at the published date. Ab207 (talk) 07:09, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I think the two newspapers have confused Bangalore with Mangalore. I'd go for the talk show here, the citation would need to mark the time and provide the translation. Tayi Arajakate Talk 06:43, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
