Comparisons edit

Comparisons between Krelian and aspects of Evangelion are utterly meaningless to this article. Unless those specific plot points had a verifable effect on Krelian, it doesn't belong here, and allowing to to be here only sets up precedent for further pointless comparisons. The INTJ is such obvious original research, no matter how you choose to cut it. Why the "Myers-Briggs Type Indicator"? Who cares? People don't come to Wikipedia to read bullshit psychology profiles of a fictional character. Apostrophe 16:11, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Fine, I've removed references to his being INTJ. And Evangelion came before Xenogears and the creators directly incorporated aspects of it into their game. How about this time you see if anyone agrees with you before you delete everything. ArcTheLad 16:39, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
See, I didn't delete everything, just the parts that were completely irrelevant to understanding Krelian. I'm still not seeing the necessity of the Evangelion comparisons; "because it came first" doesn't count as a valid reason (Why not compare Spider-Man to Superman while you're at it?), and you haven't really provided evidence for Evangelion inspiring parts of Xenogears. Even then, that's not evidence of those specific plot points inspiring aspects of Krelian. Because the fiction has some similarities doesn't mean they merit noting the comparisons in Wikipedia. In the Neon Genesis Evangelion article, it says, "The creators of the video game Xenogears (1998) have stated that the game was very much influenced by Evangelion." A better comparison than your irrelevant comic book one would be Shakespeare's Macbeth and Frost's poem "Out, Out—," since the poem's title is obviously influenced by Macbeth's 'out, out brief candle' line. Perhaps the Eva section needs to be woven in and/or explained better, though. ArcTheLad 21:21, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
What you left there still doesn't work. Readers are supposed to form their own impressions from the facts we give. Analyses do not belong in Wikipedia. Apostrophe 16:54, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
I see plenty of analysis in the, e.g., The End of Evangelion, Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII), and Ultimecia articles. Let's take a sample sentence from the personality section: "Krelian, however, only explains his plans, instead of explaining exactly what he is trying to accomplish." Is that sentence not true? Again, maybe this part could be modified, but there is no good reason to outright delete all of it just because of one person's opinion about how Wikipedia ought to be. There's a difference between noting popular analyses and making your own analysis. The End of Evangelion doesn't really have any, and Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)'s is a example of the latter. It's hardly "one person's opinion", either. Apostrophe 02:46, 16 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Why is this Apostrophe guy so uptight? edit

I really like the article the way it is and think the NGE comparison adds perspective to the era in which in the game and character were designed. Thedjf 00:31, 16 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Because Wikipedia is inherently uptight? It's an encyclopedia, not a venue for opinions and comparisons of everything to everything else. Apostrophe 02:46, 16 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup edit

Recommend cleaning up the page a considerable bit - when people view the Krelian page they don't need a plot synopsis for the entire game. You can tell them about the character without writing up an entire game script. See my page on Miang for a good example - keep in mind it's a work in progress.

Matter of fact, if I can get permission from the folks who originally wrote up this page, I'd like to rewrite it entirely. TKarrde 14:20, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think a cleanup of some of the plot elements would be fine, such as minor details and events spoiled with no exact relation with Krelian. I didn't write the article, so I'm not going to get much involved with the balance of plot summary. Deckiller 15:44, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Personally, I like the whole plot summary format. I was thinking about adding a section to Miang's, where I would do something like this article and type out a description of all her appearances. I find it useful. Cyfin 12:53, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

History Section edit

I've added a history section based on some of my translations of the book Xenogears Perfect Works. May in the future consider doing further revisions to this article. Quiddity99 02:32, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Quiddity99Reply
