Notable?

Copying my comments from the AfD: While editors are asserting that this article meets WP:MUSIC, they haven't explained how in enough detail that can be confirmed. I've gone through all the current online references, comparing them to WP:MUSIC, and I don't see any criteria that has been met. Again, I'm unable to verify what is being claimed in the AfD. I'm asking for the editors making the claims to give more information to help us all verify the claims. I totally agree. (I initiated the AfD after the article was unsourced for over a year). There are still no reliable sources. I wish there were, we need more articles about non-Western culture. Yes, that is the drawback of the Post's subscriber-only archiving. However, copy of the article is posted here, so you can at least know what it says. Also, I disagree that the references provided here are unreliable - they establish that this ensemble exists, is known, notable, gives regular performances and has issued recordings. — WiseKwai 19:50, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Great. It says they're "famed", but the only thing that that source could be used for to write anything for the article is that they performed at a Thai-Khmer cultural exchange program. Corvus cornix_talk 22:42, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

First, I thank everyone for bringing this article to my attention. Keeping in mind that the music notability criteria seem to be skewed towards the likes of Britney Spears, and that we're talking about a Thai classical music ensemble here, I believe that Korbphai at least satisfies criteria 1, 4, 5 and 7.

• Criterion 1: Satisfied by reference 8 "Coming together through music".
• Criterion 4: Okay, this one's weak, in that they don't refer to tours like Britney Spears might do, but they do reference that the ensemble has been invited to perform in other countries, at events I believe to be notable (references 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8).
• Criterion 5: Satisfied by references 9 and 10.
• Criterion 7: The group's fame is referred to in an article by Thailand's biggest English-language daily newspaper (reference 8).— WiseKwai 06:40, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

• Criterion 10: Performed music in the film The Overture, a notable. See the article The Overture for the partial list of awards won.
• Criterion 8: Not exactly music awards but The Overture won many Thai awards for its music. Korphai also appears in the credit as award recipent (Sorry, award pages below are in Thai):

Orphan

The orphan tag was removed with the comment, "no longer orphan." I count three links incoming links from articles. Seems like the article could benefit from the orphan tag still. --Ronz (talk) 23:01, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Please take a look into Category:Thai music. The whole topic is one huge poor orphan, and no amount of tags can help it. If you look in the edit history of Wikipedia:Thailand-related topics notice board, you will see only two really active wikipedians. <Sigh> `'Míkka>t 23:23, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

1. the RfD closed with a decision that the ensemble was notable and this article should be kept and
