Don't love the title...

I'm a native English speaker and reasonably well-read, and imo "table d'hôte" is obscure. I know it's the recommended English rendition by the NIKL, but imo it's nearly as obscure as "hanjeongsik". As a fellow native English speaker, I concur with your point. "Table d'hôte" might slightly edge out han-jeongsik, but both terms are so obscure we should title the article by its actual name. I'm also a native English speaker (who has spent quite a bit of time in Korea over the years). I think we should use the Korean Han-jeongsik as the article title with a redirect from Table d'hôte (which isn't really English, it's French, no?) Netherzone (talk) 08:03, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Korean table d'hôteHanjeongsik – See #Don't love the title... above; "table d'hôte" is somewhat opaque to even many English speakers. If you're familiar with Korean cuisine, there's a good chance you know about hanjeongsik using that terminology; it's seen as pretty quintessential in Korean dining, and even available abroad outside Korea to an extent that many other Korean dining concepts aren't. However, I'm on the fence about this move, think it could go either way.

As for whether to use a hyphen in "han(-)jeongsik", I think no hyphen is more standard, per [2]. seefooddiet (talk) 13:50, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
