• L. Reymond and his factory - the citizen of Switzerland who settled down in Konin for good. In 19th he built up a factory producing machines and tools for agriculture. It was the best equipped factory in Konin with own steam engine (12 horses-power) and foundry of cast iron. The factory existed to 1945 widely known as Reymond's factory. During World War II it produced various kinds of details necessary for German army and so was given of special status. The workers in that factory were remarkably well paid and came within a special treatment, even if they were mere Polish labourers. Some of them had higher wages than German soldiers and there are still widely known stories according to which workers of Reymond's factory could afford buying better meals in local restaurant than German officers. (Some interesting facts concerning Reymond's factory during WWII are derived from Mr Ryszard Miskiewicz)
