Differing name?

edit

All the people I know of you have lived in the L.A. area call this event Knott's Scary Farm. Sierraoffline444 (talk) 07:13, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

History?

edit

I'm considering compiling a table summarising the history of Knott's Halloween Haunt. I plan it to be in a similar fashion to Halloween Horror Nights. I plan to start on it next Monday (July 5) so any thoughts / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Themeparkgc (talk) 07:57, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not a big fan of it. The tables are not easy on the eyes, and they are completely without sources. In addition, I can't really see the value in a list such as those on the other page, unless it's simply to make the article bigger. Just my 2 cents. the_undertow talk 11:59, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
How would you feel about it if it was referenced? Wikipedia should feature historical information. Yes this article has a history section but I think it needs a bit more. Themeparkgc (talk) 00:09, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
You did a great job with the referencing. The tables are so long, though. What do you think about making them collapsible? the_undertow talk 05:31, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Support: a quick check with Google News supports the claim that "Knott's Scary Farm" is more common than "Knott's Halloween Haunt". Themeparkgc  Talk  22:30, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edits to Park Transformation

edit

While your edits may be accurate, the two footnotes support the previous version. If you wish to make this edit, please provide a citation from a reliable source to support it. Also, I suggest you leave the text regarding 2016 and its references, and add your text below. That would support the section about the Park growing/transforming. Editing Issues, Fall 2017

  • The following assertion appears in the lead: "It is the largest Halloween event to be held at a theme park.[3]" This may have been true at one time, but I question its accuracy now. The reference is from 2008, and the link is dead: https://www.allbusiness.com/services/amusement-recreation-services/4557991-1.html. Also, what is "largest"? Acreage? Attendance? Revenue? Attractions? Please define this. Verified claim & found new reference, with date.   Done
  • The second sentence under History states: "It has become the largest event of any theme park.[5]" This also sounds fishy to me, same reason as above. This link is from 2007, and is dead: https://www.knotts.com/haunt07/faqs.htm. As well, the supplied reference is a primary source, and cannot be used to prove this assertion.
  • The Park Transformation section still lacks references (see above section).
  • What is the purpose of the Current Attractions table? It is not immediately apparent, unless it is promotion.

If anyone would like to take a crack at these in the next week or two, I will leave them alone. Otherwise, I will be back. Oddjob84 (talk) 19:19, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

One could add "As of <date>, it was the largest..." and that would resolve the dated references - but it does not resolve the WP:PRIMARY issue. I would scrap the claim citing primary and promotional. As far as the attractions table, as there is no value added (just a list of titles) I would think it can be completely scrapped. I would wait for others to chime in before boldly deleting the table, which I came close to doing yesterday. ScrpIronIV 20:12, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
