Removed: "In 1998, the FBI requested specific examples of criminal activity at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) regarding the lack of Emergency Core Cooling Systems on all Nuclear Power Plants at the Kesselring Site Operations (KSO). A few months later the FBI announced that it would not take action and would not investigate further."
Not only is this statement lacking relevance to this particular article, it's extracted from an 'unofficial' site whose focus is mere propaganda. Nuclear facilities do not normally fall under FBI jurisdiction anyway, nevermind the fact that the author sent a copy to a Utah senator for a site in New York, why? http://www.mindspring.com/~kapl/jpsreactors02.html
As a former nuclear reactor operator, I can accurately say this statement does not even make sense...nor does the article from which it was extracted...nor does the main site. Both this article and the site itself are spattered with misinformation and blatantly false claims. I could personally debunk essentially every claim made on that site.
Let's not use extremist propaganda from one misinformed, upset guy :)

John Shannon was longtime KAPL PhD engineer and even safety chief, before he blew the whistle. Your ad hominem calls Shannon "misinformed"? (Shannon, a retired U. S. opening paragraph minor ambiguity edit
"Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) is a research and development facility dedicated to the support of the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program — a joint program of the United States Navy and United States Department of Energy, responsible for the research, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of U.S. nuclear-powered warships."
It seems that the second half of the sentence (after the hyphen) is referring to the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. If this is the case I'd like to split it out into its own sentence, to make it a bit more clear. KAPL/Bettis Contract edit
It was recently announced that Bechtel was awarded the joint contract to operate Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory and Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. Colinsweet (talk) 22:57, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
