Templar Sites?

Any objections if I start adding a list of locations of Templar interest in England? User: Davidsolomon

I think that's a fine idea. This whole page is badly in need of a rewrite. Add as much as you want, as long as you can include references at the bottom of the page that state where the information came from? Also, just as a tip, an easy way to "sign" messages on talk pages, is to add four tildes: ~~~~ at the end of the message. This will automatically "datestamp" it. You can also do this by clicking on one of the edit buttons (those grey buttons with symbols at the top of the box when you are in edit mode). The "signature" button (at least on my computer) is the third one from the right. If you hover your mouse over each button, it'll tell you what it does. Clicking on the signature button will automatically insert the necessary tildes. --Elonka 17:56, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

The Templars and the Shorts

Where is the backup for this "Unfortunately the travelers and Mr. Gore were never seen again, the money never materialised either" in the Shorts section. Also reason for the whole Shorts section needs to be less opaque.Randal Oulton (talk) 13:25, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Flag

Does the St. Geogre cross actually have anything to do with the Templar cross? Or is that just a coincidence? (Or not even a coincidence, since they aren't all that similar aside from the colours.) Adam Bishop 16:58, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Facts v. legends

The article is coming along nicely.  :) I did some cleanup today, and moved a few sections around to bring them more into line with normal Wikipedia format, but please by all means continue with what you've been doing. One request though, is to be careful about distinguishing between what is solid historical fact, and what is speculation or legend. Please put the facts and verifiable bits in this article, but keep all of the legends and speculations (even if they are very well-known legends, such as about the Grail), in the Knights Templar legends article. George / Templar Cross

I will shortly be replacing the george cross section.

The cross of St George is the Templar cross. St George is the patron saint of Crusaders and the Templars were the only Crusaders to wear the red cross on the white field.

The flag of England is the flag of the City of London is the flag of St George. (The City of London even has a Templar sword. The land was once owned by the Templars.

Where are you getting this from? St. George was one of the patron saints of the crusaders, but that was as far back as the First Crusade, before the Templars existed. Are there any actual sources for this? Adam Bishop 16:48, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

St Catherine

Um, what? She was abandoned by the Catholic Church in the latter half of the 20th century, due to a lack of historical evidence for her existance. She was hardly "branded a heretical saint", and her removal was definitely nothing to do with the Templars. I'm removing this line. Bunniwhoops 18:20, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Templar sites.

Hardly a comprehensive view of Templar sites in England. The Templars owned vast tracts of land throughout the North of England. The vast majority of Leeds and surrounding countryside up to York was owned by the Templars. Hence Temple Newsam House

Clarify

Who was punished? The recounter of the story or the knight accused of embezzlment? RJFJR (talk)
