The story of Kitwe edit

The story of Kitwe being named after the lion is not new to natives of Nkana. Actually it is not a Bemba noun to mean "Mutwe" but a Lamba noun pronounced as ki-twe. The story as told by subjects of Chief Nkana is that, before the city developed and the zoo was established, the area we now call Kitwe was rural and busy with very few village settlements. There wad also a lot of lions and elephants, and one day a lion that was terrorising the village was found dead along Kitwe stream which is where the zoo was eventually established. The one embalmed and displayed by the mayors parlour may not necessarily be the same lion but a much recent one that also terrorised the town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nsama Musonda Kearns (talkcontribs) 08:19, 27 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Moved here: Kitwe's Name edit

I don't believe this story, so I moved it here:

"There is a story that, in a zoo in Kitwe, there was a lion called Kitwe, the Bemba word for 'head'. The town was thereafter christened Kitwe. The Kitwe lion has been stuffed can be found In the entrance of Kitwe's the mayoral palace."

The Bemba word for head is "mutwe". Kitwe is a name not a regular word, the town has been called Kitwe ever since the Copperbelt sprang up. In the story above, when it became a big enough town to have a zoo, what was it called then? There has never been a zoo there. Also what's the Kitwe "mayoral palace"? The town hall? Whoever put this in the article please provide evidence. Rexparry sydney 11:52, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Airport edit

While looking for more details about the airport, I came upon several web references for an "old" and a "new" flying club. The old one is mentioned as being close to the "showgrounds", which might indicate the showgrounds of the agriculturul society. Am I right in assuming this refers to a previous aerodrome, since replaced with the current Southdowns Airport ? Jan olieslagers (talk) 08:53, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mysterious figure edit

The paragraph on mysterious sighting should be either removed or documented by some sources. There is no date there yet! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.248.154.37 (talk) 22:52, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
