One l (el) or 2 in Kiril(l)? edit

Can we do something about the spelling? Two L's or one at the end of "Kiril"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.23.193.248 (talk) 16:52, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Russian language article uses Кирилл exclusively, so it seems this is how he really spelled his name - and this is supported by his entry in the Great Soviet Encyclopedia (I can't link it because of a spam filter, but you can access it from the Russian article @ Примечания). Hence, the only correct romanization would be Kirill. Except, most English language sources refer to him as Kiril. I guess that's their problem. We should go with what his actual name was. My suggestion is to use Kirill, but have a note explaining why it's not Kiril, as would usually be the correct romanization. -- JackofOz (talk) 19:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Died while conducting"? edit

His death is written up as: "Kondrashin died in Amsterdam from a heart attack in early 1981, on the same day he conducted Mahler's First Symphony with the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra." This sounds like he didn't have that heart attack while conducting, which would put him outside the category, even considering the lead text for the category: "This category is for musical conductors who died while conducting. As with Category:Musicians who died on stage, it should not be interpreted over-literally. It can include conductors who left or were taken from the podium after becoming ill, and died shortly afterwards, either backstage or in a hospital. It can also include those who died backstage during a scheduled interval (e.g. between acts of an opera)." Does anyone know how long after the performance he had that heart attack? "died following a matinee concert"
"the evening he died".
That suggests some hours elapsed between the end of the concert and his death. Everything else I've seen is consistent with the death occurring after the end of the concert, and there's nothing about a concert being cut short due to his death on the podium or anything like that. I'll remove the category. Thanks for spotting this. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:16, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
