Merge with Luba people article?

This article does not seem to have consulted the Luba people article, there is a lot of overlap, and the two need to be merged, or the duplication removed and replaced by links. Rexparry sydney 23:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Against Merger

I disagree. You wouldn't merge an article about the Roman Empire with an article about the People of Rome/Italy. The focus of the subjects is different and deserve separate pages. Scott Free 19:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment Scott. I am not proposing to merge the 188 articles on Ancient Rome . . . the two Luba articles are inconsistent in parts, repetitious in parts, and need linking, which I'll do sometime if no-one else does -- perhaps after that I'll separate the 'Bini people' from Benin Empire in line with your dictum. Kingdom not Empire

Hi everyone and thanks to all on your contributions. I know this article doesn't get much notice, but I'm going through all the pre-colonial african states I can find to determine if they are empires or kingdoms. The reasoning behind this is the African Empires page I created. I want to make sure all actual empires are included on it, and if not, that they are titled as kingdoms. Yeah it's kinda anal but im a stickler for details.

After a review of the page and a look at some other sources (thank god for google books), its apparent that the Luba state, while extensive and certainly influential, was not an empire. Empires are generally run by a minority population that manages to dominate groups that are ethnically or culturally different. The Mali Empire and British Empire are good examples of this. Since the Luba state seemed to have spread among virtually identical peoples speaking the same language and really only separated from the nobility by clan relation, they are more a kingdom than empire. That being said, I'm moving the page to Kingdom of Luba. Of course the redirects from Luba Empire will remain. Holla back. Scott Free (talk) 05:44, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Copyvio in history

In November 2008, an IP introduced extensive copyvios into the page history; from that time until now, virtually the entire page was a copyvio. I've deleted all revisions since that time in the interests of adherence to copyright law; don't be surprised that there were seemingly no edits for nearly three years.
