- @Smiley.toerist: Since the Liberation of Kherson on 11 November, some media outlets have jumped the gun and declared that Kinburn Spit has been liberated, only for the claim to be disproven by Ukrainian sources shortly afterwards, which I talked about article. As of now, there is no current map that I see (ISW, DeepState, etc.) that shows Kinburn Spit under the control of Ukrainian forces, but I hope that it will be soon 🙂 Johnson524 (Talk!) 15:18, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- @User:Johnson524: The IWS map does not even show a heavy fighting red circle, which there clearly is. I suspect the IWS strictly respect the news blackout, but discusses expansively the Russian defense measures around the Kinburn Spit. From the image of IWS Russian forces very likely expect Ukrainian forces to take the Kinburn Spit but intend to prevent them from advancing to mainland Kherson Oblast and to defend against an amphibious attack on the land immediately surrounding the spit's connection to mainland Kherson Oblast. it seems that the Russians will more or less give up the Kinburn Spit.Smiley.toerist (talk) 00:15, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Dam flooding edit
The peninsula has not become an island. IWS citation 9 june: A Russian milblogger claimed on June 9 that Russian units continue to conduct combat activities on the Kinburn Spit and that the spit is not an island due to flooding.[76] The southern branch of the Ukrainian government organization "Forests of Ukraine" previously reported that flooding completely cut off the Kinburn Spit from mainland Ukraine as of the evening of June 7.[77] On the map there are a lot of local heights ranging between 20 to 30 meters. This close to the Black Sea the water level is unlikely to rise much above sea-level. A few meters at most.Smiley.toerist (talk) 10:40, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
