Seth Smith was Murdered. The title of this page is absurd. It should be changed.

edit

At best, the article should be title "The Killing of Seth Smith." In reality it should be the title, "The murder," or "The execution," of Seth Smith.

The murderer pled to voluntary manslaughter, but that is not dispositive. Tony Walker, a career criminal, shot Seth Smith in the back of the head, then bragged about it to friends. He later stated, "[Seth Smith] didn’t do anything to me. He didn’t deserve it.” At the time, he was on probation following a conviction for illegal possession of a firearm. He had previous convictions, including a felony for assault with a weapon.

Under California Penal Code § 192 PC, voluntary manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being that occurs during a sudden quarrel, in the heat of passion, or based on an honest but unreasonable belief in the need to defend oneself.

Executing someone is not "manslaughter." IAmBecomeDeath (talk) 04:51, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@IAmBecomeDeath Murder is a legal term. The reason it was changed was because using that term violates BLP:CRIME.
It was a killing caused by the perpetrator.
But we're simply not allowed to use the term murder because they were not convicted of that. This is a long established practice and rule for wikipedia titles, including George Floyd which was "The killing of" until the murder conviction. LoomCreek (talk) 14:20, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
