Incantations

edit

I was able to find and add some translations of the incantations for some of the spell, if anyone can, please continue on from where I have left off.

05:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Has anyone noticed that diffrent incantations are used for the same spells? They're very slight changes but are still there, for example, Hado #33 has atleast three diffrent incantations, why is that?--CaptinAsagi (talk) 02:08, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you're watching the subbed versions of the anime, this could be a reason. I've watched the episode with Rukia versus the ninth Espada many times and just about each time the kido spells have a different translation. --Skunkboy74 (talk) 04:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Double Chanting

edit

Shouldnt we mention this? It seems to be a pretty serious ability. And rukia didnt use two complementing kido, she used a destruction and binding art simultaneously.--Master Shan 04:51, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wat episode was that? I watched most of the series in one big chunk and forgot alot of the details, also, it should be corrected under "Six Rod Prison Light" that it was not RUKIA who received this spell from Byakuya, it was RENJI, if I didn't have a really good memory that would've scared me, -CaptinAsagi --CaptinAsagi (talk) 03:58, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shakkahou

edit

I believe you and won't remove the spelling, but what omake can it be found in? I thought it was in the Abarai/Kira/Hinamori omake, but it's not there. Please clarify. -- Y Ynhockey (Talk) Y 17:42, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's in the ch -17 omake at the end of vol 15. I've uploaded the appropriate page: http://lvlwing.rastereyesdesign.com/images/BLEACH15_0171.jpg It's in the middle panel.

Yeah I've found it also. It was indeed in the Abarai/Kira/Hinamori omake. Good find. -- Y Ynhockey (Talk) Y 17:50, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

translations of incantations of Bakudo #31 and 33

edit

Are they intentionally so similar in structure, or was it the result of a vandalism? Four of their first five clauses are identical, and the fifth is almost the same... --Pentasyllabic 00:58, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The kanji in both are the same up to the "name of man" part, so yes. I wonder whether it would be worth altering the wording to make it more obvious... Setokaiba 10:46, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Incantations

edit

I really have no good suggestion of what to do with them, but they are really problematic - it's hard to translate whole passages from Japanese to English in a way that 2 different people agree, especially passages as intentionally complicated as these. Any suggestions? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 05:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

If the Viz translations and the dub agree, and are a reasonable translation, I suppose we may as well use those. We'll need someone with the English manga, of course.Setokaiba 09:07, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the full incantations should be put on the page, it's a pain having to pause the video every few seconds to get the spells word for word!-CaptinAsagi --CaptinAsagi (talk) 02:38, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I tried adding all the destructive spells...and did AND SOMONE DELETED EM. Im still learning Kanji and Romaji and thought it mught be a good little thing to do as a test and hen all my effeorts get deleted. Loads of people want to know how to say the spells fully and not just the attack name eg Hado no san ju san sōkatsui. who was responsable? -Cyberapollo- —Preceding Cyberapollo comment added by Cyberapollo (talk) 04:14, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Page move

edit

I suggest moving the page to "Kidou" since that's the official English (per Bleach episode 1 dub). Yes? --Zeno McDohl (talk) 22:55, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

If we're doing that, we should put it at Kidō. --tjstrf 22:57, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
What does the official English manga say? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 16:58, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's Kidō in the English manga. But it's nothing about "demon arts", instead they say it's "Soul Reaper powers"... --Zeno McDohl (talk) 19:01, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
They also refer to them as "Soul Reaper spells" a lot in the anime. --tjstrf 19:05, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The dubbers just moved up one slot in my book. Dekimasu 12:48, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not mine: they don't distinguish between hadou and bakudou. 03:57, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree, what's up with that? Now blast #33 is bakudō? Let's hope this is just a one-time screw-up, or it will confuse many people as to what the difference between kidō and bakudō is. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 04:47, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Can someone comment on the English manga? Dekimasu 01:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
My sister has it... I'll call her soon probably.--Anaraug 01:31, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ehh... she's at a sleepover. I can find out tomorrow if no one else does first.--Anaraug 01:34, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Aw man, Zeno beat me to it... yeah it's Kidō, at least the first time.--Anaraug 03:30, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

So do we agree on this? --Zeno McDohl (talk) 05:16, 18 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Possible Unintentional Spoiler

edit

In the Overview section, fourth paragraph, where mention is made about finding Aizen, I was thinking this might reveal just enough to potentially spoil some of the plot. I may just be paranoid though.--^zer0dyer$ 13:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Incantation edit

edit

There was no evidence that a spell without an incantation is reduced to 1/3 power. Aizen specifically stated his failed and thats why it was 1/3. Other incantationless spells were never stated to be 1/3 of their power

There is no proof that it's necessarily 1/3, but it's more difficult to properly cast spells without incantations, and spells with incantations are more powerful. See my edit summary for the Aizen/Gin/Spell 90 explanation. Also there were 2 cases (I think) where Rukia was able to cast a much more powerful spell by reciting the incantation. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 00:42, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • "With sufficient training, the first step can be bypassed, allowing spells to be used in combat quickly."

Wasn't Hinamori able to cast that incapacitating binding spell without either the incantation or it's number? -Biokinetica 09:19, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's true, she just looked in his eyes, pretty cool, but then she is a "master of Kido," -CaptinAsagi--CaptinAsagi (talk) 02:35, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Level 99 spell?

edit

I don't ever recall seeing a kidou spell that was was over 90 and ther is mention of a two part 99 spell which is a shock to me. I want to know who used the spell and why. Can anyone fill in the blanks? Bushido Brown 06:57, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

That was quite an annoying header. Tessai uses it when Ichigo is trying to restore his shinigami powers. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 07:10, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wow that was a lvl 99 spell? Sugei Bushido Brown 23:26, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it was. Read the referenced chapter. Makes me wonder why the vizard thought they could hold him down with level 75 later on, but whatever. --tjstrf talk 00:14, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Picture

edit

Should we perhaps add a picture to illustrate a spell?--Hanaichi 08:57, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Only if the spell is hard to describe. 88.110.55.58 (talk) 22:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Possible spells?

edit

In chapter 84, Kuukaku recites a kidou spell to launch everyone in from the Flower-Crane cannon; should this spell not be included because it is probably not a standard one? Additionally, Urahara's incantation for Ichigo, Chad and Ishida to enter Hueco Mundo, is that not considered a kidou spell because it is probably also non-standard and possibly not a kidou spell at all?

I thought those were kido spells. Can anyone clarify? 142.58.82.146 00:51, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It would fit in the other category probably since similarly they are unnumbered. Though you would also need Ganju's kido inside the canon ball.

Fair use rationale for Image:Kurohitsugi.JPG

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Two Hadō #63?

edit

Uh, the page lists two #63 Binding Spells, Thunder Roar Cannon and Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down. Since there obviously can't be two 63's, which one is 63 and what is the number of the other one? Thanks. AleriaCarventus (talk) 06:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

They were both 63 in the manga. Somehow.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 06:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
The number is measure of difficulty, not an item in a list. Hopefully that will help your sanity in dealing with the insane reason why Kubo didn't just increment it up one. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 08:22, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
The anime says « nanajūsan » (73) for Rukia's second spell, Soren Sōkatsui, and the manga 63. So, which one to believe? It appears to me that #73 is the right one, 'coz I read that Kubo Tite was in collaboration with the director of the anime, Noriyuki Abe. So, if Tite Kubo made a mistake, maybe he told the director to correct some of the errors he made, in addition of helping him on the color details, the scenery, etc. — User:Anonymous user 16:14, 23 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.115.72.177 (talk) Reply

For some reason Kubo decided that Soren Sokatsui and Raikoho just HAD to be EXACTLY the same difficulty. That's all. StardustDragon 22:14, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

Just a note: I plan on merging the relevant details of this article to List of Soul Reapers in Bleach and then redirecting it. It'll be a few days though, since I'm currently packing up to go back to university. --erachima talk 17:54, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Last time I checked, such would require a merge proposal or something. Not like it wouldn't go through, but you shouldn't just go around "merging" whatever you want without due protocol. 207.80.142.5 (talk) 18:42, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, per Wikipedia:Be bold I can pretty much do whatever I want if I think it would help the encyclopedia... other people are similarly free to revert my actions if they think I did something unhelpful. But as you admit, the merge is pretty much inevitable anyway, thus there is no reason to put a merge tag on the page rather than just doing it myself. --erachima talk 22:44, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I support the merge idea. The kido article is not so long and it is a bit overdetailed.Tintor2 (talk) 23:55, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I also support it, especially since the Zanpakuto article was also merged. --Pentasyllabic (talk) 05:48, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

It seems erachima will be absent for a time due to university. I guess the merge could be performed by anyone of us but it needs trim.Tintor2 (talk) 14:29, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Many Soul Reapers are able to use kidō (鬼道, literally "way of the demon"), a form of magic that can be performed by reciting a specific incantation. Most of the kidō spells seen in the series have been used as attacks, defensive measures, or to bind others, though they can also serve more specialized needs such as healing wounds or communication over long distances. Spells are ranked on a scale of 1 to 99, indicating their complexity and overall power."
↑ Seems to cover all the points. Individualized exceptions (ie. skipping incantations) should already be covered in the given characters' entries. ~SnapperTo 21:57, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
You are pretty good.Tintor2 (talk) 22:07, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is no link to this article from the supposed 'merged' page. So all this information is unavailable since it redirects... Please don't merge and leave out all this information.

I personally think that the information that was in the page was useful, seeing as remembering what each of them does can be somewhat challenging. The references were also useful for knowing when in the story it was first used. Furthermore, I don't think that this article will merge as nicely with List of Soul Reapers in Bleach as the zanpakuto article did, because while each shinigami has only one zanpakuto, the kido are shared between all of the shinigami that use kido. If you were to include the kido each shingiami has used in their section, there would be a fair amount of duplication. 74.166.25.5 (talk) 06:50, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please add the link to this page from the List of Soul Reapers in Bleach section. Detailed information should be made available as a secondary link if the reader so desires. A pure redirect from kido without a means of getting back does the readers of this entry a disservice. 24.29.193.210 (talk) 07:07, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Linking here from List of Soul Reapers in Bleach will take readers back to List of Soul Reapers in Bleach. There is no content on this page for readers to read. People can look elsewhere to feed their kidō-fix. ~SnapperTo 20:06, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
If that is the case, then why not link 'bleach' directly to an external wiki set up for it? Why even bother putting the information on wikipedia if there is a media-specific wiki somewhere else?!? 24.29.193.210 (talk) 04:46, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia desires to be informative on some aspects of Bleach. Kidō just isn't one of them. A better question would be why the Bleach wiki can't be promoted on Wikipedia as an additional venue for information, something I've never seen an adequate answer for. ~SnapperTo 05:00, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
