Plot And Summary

The story depicts the love of Sassanian Khosrow II towards his azerbaijanian princess, Shirin. Khosrow and Shirin recounts the story of King Khosrow’s courtship of Princess Shirin, and vanquishing of his love-rival, Farhad by sending him on an exile to Behistun mountain with the impossible task of carving stairs out of the cliff rocks. Shirin eventually consents to marry Khosrow after several romantic and heroic episodes, including his rescue of her from a lion by killing the animal with his bare hands.

Popular in 1022

In the section Popularity it reads : Nizam al-Mulk mentioned that the legend was a popular story in 1022. What does this mean. Was the story popular in 1022 and not popular in 1023 ? Nizam al-Mulk couln't know that . Because he was a 4 year kid back in 1022. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 08:17, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Azerbaijan

Why has someone changed "Armenia" to "Azerbaijan"? Shirin was an Armenian princess, according to both Nezami and Dehlavi. Shahsina (talk) 05:16, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
