Hanes

I just checked that website out...its crazy what is happening at the factory in the Dominican Republic. Hanes isn't respecting workers rights at all. I also looked at the Hanes website, and found a picture of Kevin promoting a shirt that says: "Kevin and Hanes have designed a special T-shirt symbolic of the close connections that exist between all people. These connections allow us to come together to change the world" www.hanes.com. This bothers me because it is so hypocritical that they are promoting a shirt to change the world and at the same time making people in the Dominican Republic work more than 12 hours a day and paying them less than $200 US a month. I really hope that Kevin responds to the student campaign and asks Hanes to recognize the union in the Dominican Republic. Also, can we put this on the actual page, because this is a really important part of Kevin Bacon's biography. Valleys: thats where its at 16:19, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

you can't compare $200 US a month like that. Different countries, different economies. In India you could have a comfortable life with a car and a house on $200 US per month. Has anyone seen the www.sixdegreesofexploitation.com website? Apparently Kevin is the target of a student anti-sweatshop campaign for his role as a spokesperson for Hanes, because Hanes has a factory in the Dominican Republic that has committed severe workers rights violations. The student campaign, led by United Students Against Sweatshops, is asking Kevin to use his role as spokesperson and demand that Hanes recognize the union and live up to their promise to enter into collective bargaining negotiations with the union. Being the Voice Actor for the role of Balto in 1995, should be added to his movie accomplishments. If it's going to be a 'bibliography' of his works and such then it should contain ALL of his work, not just his live action films. Stub

This article seems like a stub to me, suprising considering how well known he is.

I agree. There is almost no biographical information about Kevin Bacon himself, just a long section about that stupid "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game, which only carries his name because it sounds vaguely similar to "Six Degrees of Separation". Angr (talk • contribs) 10:58, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

• Is this necessary? It seems pretty obvious that he should be 0 degrees from himself. Someone should delete if this is general consensus.

Relevance?

This article needs serious work. More space is given to "Six Degrees" and "Trivia" than to biographical and career information, and these latter should be the focus of the article. Since "Six Degrees" HAS and article of its own, I think that it should get no more than a sentence here, and certainly not a section of several paragraphs. Trivia should be an appendix, extraneous miscellanea that can shed further light on a subject, but when basic core information is absent there is no place for trivia. I suggest both sections be scrapped and the stub template moved from the Career section to the end of the article. Canonblack 18:01, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Proper identification of Cosmo writers

This article repeatedly refers to two Cosmopolitan writers - indentified only as "Chase" and "Mills". I assume these are last names. In the first citation of each, the first name should be given. Additionally, the names should be attached to the articles cited in the reference section. I've attempted to wiki-fy a lot of this, removing a lot of extraneous quotations and information about movies (e.g. if a hyperlink to the movie's wiki page is provided, there's no need to give the director, writer, costars, and plot points on the Kevin Bacon page). Restaurant in Philadelphia?

I live in Center City Philadelphia, not far from where Kevin Bacon's family lived, and I've never heard of a restaurant owned by Kevin Bacon here, let alone one called "Bring Home the Bacon." If there was one, it must have lasted about 2 weeks. Notusip (talk) 02:22, 18 August 2009 (UTC)notusip

Removal of unsourced information

In an effort to clean this article up, and maybe get it into GA, I'm going to be removing a lot of the unsourced, extra information that barely if at all enhances the article. For example, finding a citation that Kevin Bacon's mother is a former debutante is incredibly difficult and time consuming, and it doesn't add much to the article. Quotes that need citing

The quotes in some statements need citing, including:

• Bacon's next project was to star opposite Elizabeth Perkins in He Said, She Said. Despite lukewarm reviews and low audience turnout, He Said, She Said was illuminating for Bacon. I don't particularly think that WP:BLP/N meant to remove full paragraphs to the talk page, just the quotes themselves. Removing entire paragraphs leaves gaps in the article that are necessary, such as the marriage details. Also, two of three at least tell you where to find the specific source. I'm not convinced that any of this needed to be removed. I removed the quote about He Said, She Said, sourced the quote about his wife and until I have time to find the People magazine review of Tremors, I returned the paragraph. It isn't detrimental to Bacon and isn't that huge an issue. Also, the reference that was added to kevin-bacon.com cannot be used, the content on that page is a mirror copy of the Wikipedia article - we can't use a mirror of this article to actually source this article. Bacon was Born Where???

The article states that: “Bacon, one of six children, was born and raised in a close-knit family in North Fayette, Pennsylvania.” Where does this come from? Every other biography I have read of Bacon states that he was born in Philadelphia. His father was a very prominent Philadelphian (born and raised) and Bacon attended The Julia Reynolds Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School, a Philadelphia secondary school. Judging by the fact that Bacon’s father was the Executive Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission throughout most of Kevin’s childhood, and by Kevin’s thick Philly accent, I assume he was raised in Philadelphia as well. North Fayette is in the extreme Western part of Pennsylvania, nowhere near Philadelphia.

--Okay, since notwithstanding the fact that this article has over eighty watchers no one seems capable of caring less, I made the change. Since Kevin Bacon’s family are such prominent Philadelphians and have been for years, I suspect that the assertion that Bacon was from a township in Allegheny County, on the opposite end of the state, was an act of vandalism. If anyone doubts where Bacon is from originally, I suggest you put his name into any search engine and go to any number of sites, including fan ones. I am not a fan of any entertainer. Wrong Show Mentioned

There is a problem with the title of show that is mentioned. The part that says Kyra Sedgwick & Kevin Bacon are distant cousins mentions that this was revealed on NBC's "Who Do You Think You Are" Bacon nor Sedgwick were ever featured on that show. The correct show is PBS "Finding Your Roots." The Huffington Post article that references this is too vague "Who Do you Think You Are" is mentioned in the introduction as a show about Geneology. Although "Finding Your Roots." is never mentioned PBS is mentioned. This People article is much more clear as too the name of the show

Minor edit. - In the personal section it said he was 9th cousins with Kyra. I had just read her Wikipedia entry and it said '10th cousin' so I looked at the citation on Kevin's and it said '10th' so I corrected it. Mylittlezach (talk) 23:33, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
