a motor boat
a new ferry boat lying at the mouth of the Caledonian Canal at Banavie, after its voyage from Glasgow
a chain ferry was proposed by Mr William Macdonald but problems followed:
- one vessel sank off the coast of Argyll on its way north at midnight on Friday (Tuesday, 3 March 1936)
- a second boat purchased by Mr William Macdonald was wrecked off St Agnes Head, Cornwall, en route for Inverness (Tuesday, 7 April 1936)
- another boat too broad in the beam to get through the locks at Banavie (Friday, 11 December 1936)
- third boat sunk in the Moray Firth off Tarbat Ness yesterday, after been towed round the Pentland Firth (Friday, 9 April 1937)
