Apollo CM next to LC-39 swing arm

Attached to the LC-39A swing arm/white room is some sort of Apollo CM. This isn't the crude mockup you can climb in. Inside it looks very authentic, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a mock-up or boilerplate. (It wouldn't be a real CM either). Is it a trainer? Bubba73 ^{(You talkin' to me?)}, 23:37, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Savurn V scale model

Idea about photos

I have an idea about photos:

1. replace the first rocket garden photo with Gemini 9
2. make a subsection gallery of rocket garden photos (3 I think) in a subsection under Rocket Garden
3. make a subsection gallery of Apollo/Saturn V Center photos under its section (9 I think)

Ultimately the Apollo/Saturn V Center could have its own article, but I don't think there is enough text yet. There is a lot of stuff there - if more of it could be discussed, I think it would make another article. Bubba73 ^{(You talkin' to me?)}, 01:35, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

If that is not acceptable, I think the photo of Shepard's car should be replaced with the LC-39A walkway and white room. It is much more historic and important. The problem is - that would make the photo of Shepard's car an orphan file. Bubba73 ^{(You talkin' to me?)}, 01:49, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

I just found out that there used to be an article about the Apollo/Saturn V center. Now some of the photos that were in that articles are orphans, hence in danger of being deleted within a few days. I think that would be a bad thing. Bubba73 ^{(You talkin' to me?)}, 02:16, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

The Apollo/Saturn V center does not warrant its own article. As a part of and only accessible through Visitor Complex tours, it is best as a section of the this article. There are essentially only 4 exhibits there, the main space with the Saturn V and assorted displays and artifacts, the Lunar Theater, the Launch Control room, and a gallery which rotates exhibits periodically.

The problem with the photos is that there are too many of them and they are simply placed at the end of the article. Its not clear to the reader what they have to do with the article, they are just a collection of apparently related images. Even with the images that were removed, this article is still in danger turning into a travel guide. If these photos are important to the article, they need to be incorporated into the prose of the article. If any of these photos are there simply because they are "cool" or "interesting", they need to go. If you are concerned that orphaned images will be deleted, you can tag them for movement to wikipedia commons.

For now, I'd suggest moving the images to the right section.

• The F-1 engine is from the rocket garden, see if it will fit there and if there are any reliable sources that talk more about the rocket garden that might mention more about the vehicles vs. the non-vehicles (like this engine) that are in there. There used to be some tracking antenna in the rocket garden, that would be a nice addition to the prose there as well.
• The Gemini capsule is in the Debus center I believe. Perhaps that could be worked into the attractions section or a better section could be created covering the artifacts on display there. There should be good reliable resources available announcing when things arrived.
• The rest are from the Apollo / Saturn V center. Not all of these should be moved to that section. It's just too much. Many of these photos might be moved to the articles on their respective optics (LM, Apollo, Sheppard, Corvette, etc.)

As I said above, I did not think there was enough to split off a Apollo/Saturn V Center article, but knowing that there was already an article with the potential to grow, I would not have merged it into this one. There are many things to see at the Apollo/Saturn Center - you just listed the major rooms. Many of these are not discussed. There is the actual LM simulator, the astronaut van, the Moon rock, the side room with A14 CM, Moon rocks (not sure if they are real or replicas), several spacesuits. An actual LM, an actual CSM, replica Moon buggy. Bubba73 ^{(You talkin' to me?)}, 16:33, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

These are all great things to add to this section (assuming they can be sourced and are not just original research), but I don't see the Apollo / Saturn V Center meriting its own article anytime soon. It's just not that differentiated from the Visitor Complex as a whole nor does the center itself have that much of a history to write about. It's part of the Visitor Complex and accessible only through the tours there. There are some very historic items (original mission control from Mercury program along with many other artifacts flown and refurbished, boilerplate, or replica ) in the Early Space Exploration building next to the Debus Center as well but similarly it is part of the Visitor Complex and doesn't warrant a dedicated article either. Dont get me wrong, the programs and vehicles represented in these areas are very notable and are well covered in articles of their own, but the center itself doesn't meet notability guidelines on its own.

I know that rock is real, but there are about three others in the side room where the A14 CM is. I thought they were real, but the Genesis Rock (at the astronaut Hall of Fame) is a replica - these might be also. I didn't take time to read the sign next to them. Space Mirror Memorial is at the visitor's center but it has its own article. Bubba73 ^{(You talkin' to me?)}, 22:47, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

The Space Mirror Memorial article encompasses both the memorial and the astronaut memorial foundation with lots to say about honorees. It could stand a lot more references.--RadioFan (talk) 03:30, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
