Controversial?!

The music video for Firestarter was not controversial at all.

• The mass media had an outcry for it being "evil" and such. Maybe it was. Although SMBU was a lot more controversial. cun 11:02, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

• Yes, a female firefighter had died in an arson attack on a supermarket around the time that the video was gaining some notoriety, and some of the UK newspapers tried to make a connection. I seem to remember it being referred to as the most frightening video TOTP had ever played? Amusingly, two of the biggest UK tabloids decided that Keith 'The Firestarter' could be a good front-page splash, and decided to investigate him to see what they could dig up. Everyone they talked to, from neighbours to girlfriends to promoters to pensioners that lived near him had only good things to say about him! Realising that he's a really nice bloke and the image is mainly for his great stage presence, they had no story. You've got to laugh at that one, they obv thought they'd dig up 'he's a drug taking abusive yob' and ended up with 'he likes gardening and often runs the local OAPs up to the hospital when he's at home'! False Information

In 2002 the single "Baby's Got a Temper" was released. It was heavily influenced by Flint's punk style, which lead to Howlett later discrediting the song as representing The Prodigy.

The reason for Howlett discrediting the track is due to XL records forcing Liam to come up with new material. Liam felt the track was brought out to satisfy the label rather than satisfying himself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Issueskid (talk • contribs) 13:32, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

School

I've not found any content to agree with him attending Eton, however there has been a fair amount of discussion about which secondary school he went to. According to the "Notable Alumni" on the Boswells School entry he attended there, but others suggest differently, and I believe all the content about his school life was removed because there were no reliable sources. Hello, is there some reliable source for Keith's birth date? I found both September 17 (eg. IMDB) and March 27 (eg. TheProdigy.info) on the Internet... Thanks — Arkanosis ^✉ 14:30, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, both dates are wrong, that or his place of Birth, or Name. If you have a look through the Birth Indexes on any of the numerous BMD sites, you wont find an entry matching the dates in the Article e.g.

Discography

Why were just two of the Prodigy's singles listed in the Discography section if the reference has 43? Usually albums only are listed on a biography, and the singles for the separate discography page. Inline sources for discography

User:Black Kite I have at least two gripes:

1. Inline sources are not normally used for discographies
2. The source used for Device #1 is for a Russian bootleg, not the "real" promo CD. Actually Device #1 was never officially released, as it is explained in Flint (band). At least better source should be used.

Can you explain more why the discography should be sourced? Maybe give some similar example? --RockyMM (talk) 23:53, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

• Hi - in the Keith Flint article we just need sources showing that he actually provided vocals/writing/anything else for that album/single, as obviously this is a slightly different one in that for some of the Prodigy's releases he was only credited as a dancer and therefore technically isn't credited on the recording. Yes, I think so. Not sure what the rush is. I'm not suggesting that the band and his former bandmates are wrong, although we don't know exactly what they knew or saw. Death template.

I've reinserted this template, and started discussion. The template (as quoted) says "where many editors (perhaps dozens or more)" my emphasis. That's not a hard limit or definition, only an example. At the point of reversion there had been 15 edits to the page, not 10, and as of this point 23. There were 34 on 07/03 and 43 on 06/03, with more going back again.

According to XTools,[1] the average number of edits per day is 1.7, and that's an artificially inflated average due to the sudden increased number of edits since his death. While there may not be "dozens" of edits today, there have been over the last week, and statistically there is still a massive increase of edits and pageviews[2] since his death.

The template is still applicable to the article. Feel free to discuss, but while we do so, it should stay in place rather than edit war. Chaheel Riens (talk) 22:17, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

No strong view either way. It might be easier if the appearance of this template was automated in some way. That might in itself be open to gaming, I guess, but at last we would avoid disputes because of differing subjective judgements. Another alternative might be to apply a simple hard rule of so many days, regardless of edit volume. Part of the issue may be that the words "because its subject has recently died" are seen by some contributors as a mark of respect? Martinevans123 (talk) 23:02, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

My view places emphasis on the comment "recently died" - which I accept to be subjective. However (and I believe I mentioned this somewhere) I think that 7 days is a reasonable length of time for a death to be considered recent. Chaheel Riens (talk) 23:16, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
