Kerey Khan

The Kazakh Khanate had two founders - one was [Khan] and the other Kerei, or Kerey, or Girei Khan. The latter went on to become greater than the former. Flag

We've had this debate already over at the Gokturk talk page. As far as I know, the Turkish government page and of the World are not adequate sources. For one, FOTW gets the flags from the Turkish government website. As the flags are shown basically nowhere else that is NOT a derivative of either the Turkish site or a FOTW mirror , I do not think their existence is certain enough to upload to Wikipedia. Note that even the | image description recognizes the flag as dubious: "Note that no such Khanate ever existed, and the flag is probably a fantasy design." Therefore I am removing the flag from the page until there is definitive proof that it should remain. rcduggan (talk) 17:03, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

On the other hand it is worth mentioning that the image description in question was not the original comment of the uploader, but instead was an opinion added by someone else later (check history here - [1]) Selerian (talk) 00:37, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Slavery section

There is information and a list added about captured, enslaved Russians and Europeans by the Kazakhs, probably this was added to justify the colonisation of the Kazakh lands by the Russians and the forced destruction of their lifestyle. 1 million Kazakhs died in the famine 1930s result of Russian colonisation, while the most fertile Kazakh lands were given to Russian settlers.

What happened to the Native Americans in the United States, also took place in Central Asia, the victims were the native population and the colonists were Russians and other Europeans.

What is missing in this story is that there were Russian/ Cossacks raids into Kazakh/native areas as well, furthermore Russians colonised steppe lands of the nomad Kazakhs and did not allowed them to use it anymore, they took their lands and resources.

So the story is basically that the Kazaks suffered much more but that is not emphasized in the article, instead the colonisation is tried to be justified. DragonTiger23 (talk) 16:19, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Slavery section relevance & neutrality

Why out of all events in the history of the Kazakh Khanate, "slavery" was highlighted into a separate section? Events (so called "Kazakh raids") listed in this section were sporadic cases rather than influential continuous processes and their coverage is way too expanded. Meanwhile, raids and massacres by the Russian Empire are underreported and downplayed, which raises concerns about the neutrality of the article. I am not saying the information in this section is all wrong, but making slavery an only separate headline in the article about Kazakh Khanate is irrelevant and biased. Articles about the Roman/Portuguese/British Empires (the largest slave traders in the Earth's history) don't have sections about slavery at all, but Kazakh Khanate for some reason has. Was there really a war between the Qing army and Kazakh Khanate?

I've never heard of this war. If anyone have the sources for the war, please share it here so that I can review the article. PurpleRequiem (talk) 06:59, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
