Kaushal surname bearers originate from Lord Brahma himself and the Kaushal Rishi and is often a gotra of high order Sarasvat Brahmins and Khatris. Lord Ram is a direct descendant of the clan and his mother Kaushalya originated as a Kaushala daughter.
Kaushal Rajvir was the name of a famous king in Indian history. It is said that he had 516 queens in his mahal for his pleasure. The Kaushals is a surname of Brahmin (Pandit), high caste in India. In Punjab (India) many Khatri people (a caste group) also used Kaushal as their surname. According to many historians, the Kaushals are descendents of Rishi (sage) Kaushal.
Kaushals were the 'special' names given to Hindu kings by their gurus. Their origin was in North India and near the areas of Punjab & Himachal Pradesh, Bihar.
Kaushal is a gotra for Raghuvanshi clan of Suryavanshi lineage. They are considered as the descendents of Lord Rama. Lord Ram was sometimes called as Kaushalendra Ram and hence the Kaushal lineage came into existence.
Specifically in Haryana and Punjab Brahmins from Kaushal Lineage are found. These Brahmins are the direct descendents.
