WP:BLPGOSSIP? edit

I disagree with MarkYabloko's contention that this article is in violation of WP:BLPGOSSIP. The sources are solid, especially the Reuters article. The Reuters article did a pretty in-depth investigation and goes a lot further in its claims and directly states that Katerina is Putin's daughter, but I chose to be more conservative in my wording. Thank you Fraenir (talk) for your feedback.

Please take a look at this wikipedia article and let me know what you think:

"...that is as close as possible to the primary source(s) on the described topic." - are you referring to this bit, that I shouldn't call it a rumor and directly state that she is his daughter? Fraenir (talk) 06:57, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, it can not be rumors, or as hard to believe, can not even be based on primary source(s) only, as stated above.
Please do not feel discouraged; we all at Wikipedia appreciate the time and efforts of contributors just like yourself. MarkYabloko 08:24, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I have no idea what you're saying here. Can you explain how this article, as written, is violating "Wikipedia is a tertiary source"? ThanksFraenir (talk) 08:35, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
No problem Fraenir (talk), I am just referring you to Wikipedia's article WP:WITS Wikipedia is a tertiary source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_is_a_tertiary_source saying that:
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia
Wikipedia's main namespace is an encyclopedia and thus a tertiary source.
Wikipedia is not a primary source
Wikipedia avoids describing topics that never have been described before — doing otherwise qualifies as performing original research. Unsourced eyewitness accounts or other unsourced information obtained from personal experience should not be added to articles, as this would cause Wikipedia to become a primary source for the added information (see Wikipedia:Verifiability).
Wikipedia is not a secondary source
Wikipedia does not offer interpretations or analyses that deviate from previously published interpretations and analyses — doing otherwise qualifies as performing original research.
Wikipedia is a tertiary source
Wikipedia summarizes descriptions, interpretations and analyses that are found in secondary sources, and/or bases such summaries on tertiary sources. Wikipedia illustrates such summaries and descriptions with material that is as close as possible to the primary source(s) on the described topic.

Does this help a little? MarkYabloko 08:51, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not really - you just copy and pasted directly from that WikiPage. I don't think I'm in violation of that here. Fraenir (talk) 08:57, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Sorry that was not much help to you Fraenir (talk). I copied and pasted from Wikipedia article to insure that you get an objective reasoning. MarkYabloko 11:19, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • This is something everyone knows and has been published everywhere. Please see same page on ruwiki. A plenty of English language sources as well [1], [2]. Some Russian sources: [3]. My very best wishes (talk) 23:01, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
They all quote Reuters.. Which means there is still only one source. Bataaf van Oranje (talk) 09:49, 15 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Surname -- Why is she Tikhonova instead of Putina or Shamalova? edit

Why is Katerina surnamed Tikhonova instead of Putina or Shamalova? 179.53.101.223 (talk) 16:06, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

her corrupt dwarf dad has kept his entire family secret, so she can have any last name. In RuNet they say that this is the surname of her grandmother. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.41.98.171 (talk) 14:12, 25 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Notability? edit

What makes her notable? I agree we should mention her, but I'd rather see this in an article about family of Putin, not here, given issues with WP:NBIO. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:33, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • She is a quite important businesswoman at least nominally and one of a rumored heirs for the position of Russian President. There is also a significant coverage. I am all for creating family of Putin article but I am afraid if we put all the info we already have it will be too long, so I will rather have sections on Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin, Lyudmila Putina, Maria Vorontsova, Alina Kabaeva, etc. with brief summaries and main articles correspondent to each of the personage. Alex Bakharev (talk) 03:30, 23 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • She has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of her, so meets WP:GNG. There is too much information in this article to cram into a section of a 'family of Putin' article. Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 15:21, 23 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
