Taco Bell Stuff

We have recently seen the addition of stuff under the heading of "Personal". I have removed it again as it is not a notable event for a BLP and no references have been provided. --BweeB (talk) 07:20, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

You have been reported for repeatedly deleting items on a page when they are currently being posted. Extremely rude in dealing with other people posting. --borntorock (talk) 07:22, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps rude, but we must abide by Wiki policy when adding material to BLP on Wiki. --BweeB (talk) 07:27, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Which is something you are clearly not doing with your edits. As I said, reported for abuse. Now leave me alone, cyber-bulling is a crime. --borntorock (talk) 09:22, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Agreed about Personal Section and Taco Bell Stuff. Her article now looks good as of today. Please avoid personal attack from one editor to another editor; it does not help Wikipedia.org at all. Thanks.

The Filmography section is pitifully sparse. Therefore, I believe she should be described as a celebrity rather than an actress.Lynxx2 (talk) 23:51, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

The Career section is overly detailed with non-essential information. While I appreciate her admirers trying to advance her importance, it seems comically padded-out.Lynxx2 (talk) 00:01, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

While her filmography is sparse, her two roles technically make her an actress. If you propose certain changes to the career section, feel free to suggest them.  Mbinebri  talk ← 01:06, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Career section: "participated in the 2011 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, in July 2011." Participate in a game event is not notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.175.225.204 (talk) 13:30, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

When she was in the 7th grade she dated a guy called Paul Geldenhuis who now lives in South Africa. 197.87.157.102 (talk) 07:31, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Not done: you haven't provided a source, but this is not notable information anyhow. --Stfg (talk) 09:23, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Updating Measurements

The measurements currently cited are from FMD site, appear to be incorrect and haven't been updated since 2011. Other sites (Nytimes) clearly specify different measurements which appear more plausible and convincing. Sumwhile (talk) 17:46, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

New image

This page needs a new, more up to date, photo of Kate Upton. The current picture, though still incredibly attractive, does not portray her in her most current state (plus her hair is a little messed up in the one on her page right now). Let's work to find a new image or images and add them in. Let me hear your thoughts. Thanks! Meatsgains (talk) 23:04, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

What current state are you referring to? She's 21, and the photo was taken less than three years ago. Her appearance hasn't changed significantly. Nightscream (talk) 01:48, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
There is usually not a big difference between how someone looks when they're 30 and when they're 33, but there is often IS a big difference between how someone looks when they're 18 and when they're 21. Bostoner (talk) 20:51, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Current picture is great, with the logo of "Game of Wars" on the wall in the background (she appears in their Superbowl ad, coming from sauna to riding an attack horse.) -- AstroU (talk) 00:27, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Status of relationship with Justin Verlander

It says Kate Upton and Justin Verlander broke up when he proposed and she declined. Kate herself said this was a lie and they have not broken up. Believe me I wish they did because I'm in love with her, but many articles including a tweet by Kate proves they have not broken up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.44.19.123 (talk) 22:54, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

The poster above is correct. If Upton and Verlander broke up, they're now back together. Source: https://instagram.com/p/0f4uieq87j/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.69.43.216 (talk) 15:40, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

They're still together, and the source cited by the assertion that they broke up doesn't say that. It only says that Justin proposed and was turned down because she believes it would hurt her career to get married. Other sources say he didn't propose, so the best solution is probably to take the item out.

Very minor edit needed

In Career, second item from the bottom: "one of Coster-Waldau character's mistresses" should read "one of Coster-Waldau's character's mistresses". Someone forgot the possessive form. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.54.40.19 (talk) 03:29, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Kate Upton: the most average, overweight model that is being hyped up for no reason who has not worked with any major fashion houses. (source: common sense) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.49.99.217 (talk) 23:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

You should be more polite and kinder. This is not a gossip magazine. -- Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 00:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
Agreed--be civil. You should take unkind words back after you view the online clip of her Superbowl ad for "Game of Wars" app. -- AstroU (talk) 00:29, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
She is gorgeous. If a model's job is to maintain the elusive "perfect" amount of body fat, then being a touch "overweight" is what healthy people consider being on the safe side. Proper nutrition is much more valuable than being in accord with 173.49.99.217's opinion of the perfect weight, and I'm sure she knows it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.54.40.19 (talk) 03:37, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Verlander

Upton and Verlander are still together. Information on the page about their split in January is false. 166.170.33.245 (talk) 04:42, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Please note that both Sports Illustrated' Swimsuit Issue covers links in 'External Images' section produce a 404 Not Found result. I'm referring to this section here:

Please note that both Sports Illustrated' Swimsuit Issue covers links in 'External Images' section again produce a 404 Not Found result. There is an archive link for the 2012 image. Is it possible to add one for 2013 image as well? If not, perhaps you can use this image: http://cdn-jpg.si.com/sites/default/files/2013/02/kate-upton-cover.jpg Hope it helps. Thank you. Wiki What

It strikes me that a link to the Wiki What episode with her is not unthinkable in the external links section. Do we want that? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:53, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

  • I removed it as it seems self-promotional on many levels. I believe that if it is going to be on the page it needs to be an internal citation supporting facts. -- BrillLyle (talk) 10:21, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

The funny image

It´s fun, I read the Esquire-article, but... well, IMO Facebook-y. At least the armor one was her working (?). Personal life section, perhaps? Or cut the dog. Or add a significant section about the dog. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:49, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

  • In the video, Upton expressed that she did not like the current picture, that she wanted a different picture. She posed for the picture that was posted. The assumption is that she approved it. If the dog was a problem it can be cropped out. But to remove it seems to go against what the subject of the article is asking for, which is to replace her picture. Since when is something expressed by the subject just automatically dismissed? I have seen this changed for other entries when the subject has not liked their picture. I think the picture in one form or another should be restored. -- BrillLyle (talk) 10:52, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
In general, going against what the subject of the article is asking for happens all the time on WP when there is a policy or guideline (in this case MOS:LEADIMAGE and whatever) that indicates it should. Not being directly under the subjects control is one of the things that gives WP some value (a value that can be sold[1]).
In this case, I agree with Bri who added the current leadimage that it´s a better choice (I'm fairly certain that was your motive). If you´ve seen any of the more hotly contested leadimage debates on WP you´ve seen that microphones often are called "distracting", and this one had a big dog in it. Upton is not a dogbreeder (?) and there are no mentions of dogs in the article. Sure, crop the dogimage and suggest it here, or add it WP:BOLDLY and see what happens. It´s up to editorial discretion/consensus, I think I personally would prefer the current image. Perhaps Upton would too, who knows. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:06, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Reliability of Esquire/Wiki What as sources

I opened a discussion about using Esquire/WikiWhat-facebook as sources for this article at RSN here -- Jytdog (talk) 02:21, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

  • The usage of Esquire as a source is acceptable. It is a legitimate news source. There is no reason to object. It is not a tabloid like the Mirror UK. It is mainstream US media. It is clear that the description of the creation of digital content by a Hearst-owned entity is not relevant to this topic at all. Media companies have a process of creating online content, just like they have a process for creating articles. This process does not refute the actual content that was created. -- BrillLyle (talk) 10:27, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
The discussion is happening at RSN, not here. Jytdog (talk) 06:18, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
