Made-up things edit
Could we please stop introducing made-up names and fantasy weapons?
- It's Pak, not PaK
- It's Flak, not FlaK
- It's 2 cm KwK 30 (or, more correctly, 2 cm Kw K 30), not 2-cm-KwK-30
I also deleted the table introducing anti-tank guns and other guns. If these are to be mentioned, they should not be mentioned as the same gun on a different platform, as they were seperate weapons using some of the same parts (chiefly the gun barrel). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Christian Ankerstjerne (talk • contribs) 12:26, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
- If you look at the German page, you'll find that the correct abbreviations indeed are "PaK" and "FlaK", as well as where the hyphens come from. The latter is more a stylistic choice as it will not in any way alter the namnes (unlike the difference between B15 and B-15).BP OMowe (talk) 19:52, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- No. Just because German Wikipedia does it wrong doesn't mean that English Wikipedia should. All period sources use Pak, not PaK, and none of the period sources use hyphens. Christian Ankerstjerne (talk) 20:50, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- Actual use seems to be mixed and may have changed during the time but many manuals or WaPrüf reports use Kw.K. or Kw.K (also Kw K or KwK seen later), model number behind with space or without. The PanzerTracs series of books use Kw.K.30 or just Kw.K. The use of hyphens is related to german language grammar if used in text (Durchkopplung)--Denniss (talk) 06:23, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- That it specifically for Kw K, however; the use of Pak, with a lower-case k and no spacea, is very consistant. Periods were also very rare (I only seem to recall it on a stencilled crate, which isn't really anything close to official). The lack of spacing more often seems to be a matter of very tight kerning than actually omitting the space, and actual cases of there being no spaces is quite rare too. Regardless, the form used on German Wikipedia is completely made up.Christian Ankerstjerne (talk) 08:47, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
