List of references edit

Sufficient references have been added to the article. They include sources related to electoral results during French rule and after independence. All the relevant information during french rule is well documented in the Official Journal of French India which can be accessed online. Related to information after independence, some reference manuals published by Govt. of India and official gazette of Pondicherry have been included. For electoral results since 1964, sources can be obtained from Election commission of India website. If anyone feel the article lacks sufficient references then they can approach me anytime.Bsskchaitanya (talk) 14:09, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Article name edit

@Bsskchaitanya Parasurama seems to be the more widespread spelling than Parassourama. And, did he use this long name in official correspondence? I see him mentioned as Kamichetty S. V. Rao Naidu in this page. Thoughts? Nikh Nori (talk) 09:49, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Nikh Nori That was his name as per official French records and the pronunciation of his Telugu name was written as per French orthography. Many names of people from Puducherry are written as per French orthography even today. For example: 'Radja' (instead of Raja), 'Issoira Raw' (instead of Iswara Rao), 'Caliany' (instead of Kalyani). I am a native of Yanam (which is the current name as per the English orthography). You may shorten his name because he got a very long name.
The page 'List of speakers of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly' was created by me long ago and to maintain brevity I preferred to mention his name in that way.
However, he was usually called by our natives of Yanam Kamichetty Parasuram. Even the names of my ancestors in the official French records bear the surname with French orthography. I have the records from ECI related to the election results in Yanam after independence which have his name as per French orthography. He was in politics during the French colonial era as well and the 1946 French India assembly election results mention his name in this way, 'Kamichetty Sri Parassourama Varaprassadaraw Naidou'. However, I did find some English news articles or references in English books mentioning his name as Kamichetty Parasuram. Hope this clarifies your doubts. Take care friend. Article titles in English Wikipedia should be as per the most used name in reliable English-language sources. Check Wikipedia:CRITERIA. French Wikipedia would have titles based on French sources. Please see what is the most used version of his name in English sources. If it is the short form, rename it accordingly. Nikh Nori (talk) 11:10, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
