FYI: 1250 AM in San ANtonio went on the air in 1953
KXET(AM) Jan 1, 1953: 1250 khz; 1 kw-U, DA-N.
In march of 1983 the station was sold to Texas Lotus. The call sign and format was changed several times in an attempt to make the station profitable. The date that KZDC was assigned some time in 1994 or 95. If it ever had the KZEP callsign it would of been after 1996 and the time the station was sold. Some time after 1996 the station was sold to its current owners. They moved thee transmitter and upgrade its power to 25Kw. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.74.140.79 (talk) 00:50, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
KXET AM 1250 was a Spanish Language Radio Station 1986-1990 1 Kw D/N 2 tower directional with Transmitter located at 300 Yucca St what is not Sisters of the Holy Spirit. Sisters of the Holy Spirit was at the time across the street at 301 Yucca St.
Studios were on Dakota St just West of the Rail Road tracks in what is now the foot print of the Alamo Dome, at the time it was the SE edge of Alamo Iron Works.
The Studios moved to 427 E 9th St in the same building as their Sister station KZEP FM 104.5 The station dropped its Spanish language Format about 1999 and went to a Sports Talk Format carrying the Astros Baseball and the then new Houston Texans NFL games, I do not remember the callsign at that time but I don't ever remember the AM operating with the KZEP callsign. Along about 94 or 95 the call sign was changed to KZDC and switched to a hard rock format. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.29.176.53 (talk) 15:07, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
- As the Chief Engineer for the station 1986-1996.
- Most of what is above it correct.
- Spanish was dropped in 1989, The station was Automated and and KRNS (Radio News Sports) was the new call sign.
- It carried a sports talk format and I dont remember we ever carried Texans Football just Astros Baseball.
- about 1994 or 95 the format was switched to a Hard Rock format and the call sign switched to KZDC.
- It was still Hard Rock when I left in late May of 1996. 47.188.230.64 (talk) 06:55, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- It was a policy of Lotus Communications to NOT SIMULCAST Stations for have AM & FM stations with the same call sign so at no time was 1250 AM KZEP. 47.188.230.64 (talk) 06:58, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
