An example of the pitfalls of the attitude that Wikipedia's coverage of radio stations should largely amount to little more than a user-friendly mirror of the FCC database. This license was notable even before it was applied for, namely in the events beginning in 2006 which led to the formation of Fairbanks Open Radio. Naturally, someone decided a while back that we couldn't mention FOR on Wikipedia because they didn't have the station on the air at that time. If I recall, they ran out of money to actually get the station on the air, so they found the fiddling folks, who had money lying around from the proceeds of their pull tab permit. FOR then turned to the next filing window, this one for LP licenses, and claim that they will be launching that station (at 90.9, I think) in June.

As for the station airing "Native American music", it pretty much sounds like the same thing I first heard on KNBA nearly two decades ago: the sort of music I hear on World Cafe with a John Trudell song thrown in every once in a while. They also extensively air programming from DMD2 ("Customized radio made in Switzerland!"). While I find it fascinating that there are folks in Switzerland who revere the Gibb brothers, Nile Rodgers and Quincy Jones so much, you really can't call that Native American music, either.
