not just military? edit
Is it worth noting perhaps that it's not just the military that uses the term "KP" with regards to this sort of task? - The term's used here in the UK as well, though as far as I know only in a civilian context as .134 describes. It's never expanded as "kitchen police" or "kitchen patrol" though, always "kitchen porter". PeteVerdon (talk) 13:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

KP as "kitchen porter" edit
Here in the UK, the job "KP" takes place not just in military kitchens but any kitchen, and KP stands for "kitchen porter" (source). I may change this article in the future to broaden its scope to include kitchen porter roles as well. NemesisAT (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
