This article and K-ASROC are about the same thing. As the latter is more of a stub than this one, I propose that K-ASROC be merged into this article. --4wajzkd02 (talk) 07:17, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- No objection from me. I believe I was one who started the K-ASROC article. Cla68 (talk) 12:10, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Merge to Hong Sang Eo (Red Shark) torpedo from K-ASROC complete edit
Per WP:SMERGE, DO NOT ask for a history merger between the two articles. See Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves#Parallel versions for the reason. --4wajzkd02 (talk) 04:31, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
New Images edit
The new images are fantastic, and really add to the article. Thank you! --4wajzkd02 (talk) 17:35, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Specifications edit
Since this weapon is nothing more than a carrier rocket for an anti-Submarine torpedo there seems to be a glaring issue with the performance figures. The Speed is listed as 45+ knots (83+ km/h) using the TVC Rocket Motor. The motor powers the carrier rocket not, the K745 Blue Shark torpedo which is the payload and weapon possessing the speed of 45 knots. The US manufactured RUM-139A VL ASROC has a speed of 660 knots, and the Mk46 anti-submarine torpedo is the payload in this case, with a cruise/full speed of 30/45kts.
The information as currently presented is confusing and misleading. In fact the opening text is misleading as well.
"Hong Sang Eo (Red Shark) torpedo (Hangul: 홍상어 어뢰), also called the K-ASROC, is a vertically launched anti-submarine missile"
The weapon is not a torpedo, it's a rocket or "Stand-off ASW missile". The torpedo is the payload or warhead.
