Endorsements

When listing endorsements on Wikipedia articles -- see e.g. List of endorsements in the Scottish independence referendum, 2014, Endorsements_in_the_United_Kingdom_European_Union_membership_referendum,_2016 or Jeb_Bush_presidential_campaign,_2016#Endorsements -- we only list notable endorsements. As a rule of thumb, notability is determined by whether the person/organisation is considered notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article of their own. That's why I have trimmed the endorsements list here of various local councillors and regional chairs who are not in themselves notable. Compare also Labour_Party_(UK)_leadership_election,_2016#Endorsements and Conservative_Party_(UK)_leadership_election,_2016#Endorsements: councillors or regional chairs don't get listed.

Another perspective on this is to go back to the basic pillars of Wikipeda: WP:V and WP:RS. While an official social media outlet can be referenced, we would like reliable and independent sources for material. Bondegezou (talk) 09:25, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Bondegezou would you care to comment on whether you are a member of a political party , and have you ever stood for election for any political party WP:COI. [1] would it be proper to edit on relevant party matters and further to participate in the article of a rival party if you had indeed sought public office for and are a current or former member of a rival political party? As per WP:COIPOLITICAL, I see no conflict of interest in my edits to this article, but I have left the COI tag RogerGLewis has added while the matter is being resolved. Antanas Guoga

Can we keep Antanas Guoga out of the list of candidates? His supposed candidacy was a publicity stunt. He is not and never has been a member of UKIP and his views are diametrically opposite to those of UKIP. He was clearly never eligible, clearly never serious. While his stunt got media attention -- as is the point of a publicity stunt -- no media report of the election ever included him in a list of candidates or potential candidates. He should not be in a list next to Douglas Carswell or Suzanne Evans or Steven Woolfe. It is not Wikipedia's job to promote publicity stunts. It adds nothing to the readers understanding of the election to list his name. Bondegezou (talk) 01:35, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

User:Brucejoel99, might I ask you explain your reasoning here for including Guoga? He clearly was not a real candidate. He was clearly ineligible from the start and his "application" was a publicity stunt to criticize UKIP. His own press releases fails WP:RS. Media coverage never treated him as a real candidate. It is a nonsense to include him in a list with actual UKIP politicians. Everyone else: comments please! I'll try a compromise edit in the mean time. Bondegezou (talk) 19:12, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

I note the only independent citation given about Guoga explicitly describes his action as a "publicity stunt". As per WP:DUE, we shouldn't be covering someone's publicity stunt that got minimal WP:RS attention. Bondegezou (talk) 19:19, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

One article to unite them all

Why don't we have one article entitled UK Independence Party leadership elections, 2016 rather than an article for each election (presuming a second election does go ahead)?
